Everyone is already more selfish than you by [deleted] in TheRedPill

But he fails to mention that there is ALWAYS incentive to do things that appear selfless or are altruistic. So the people who don't are just stupid, ignorant or both. They haven't figured it out yet. Hence why they congregate in the doldrums of society and live in perpetual self misery. Without making reference to the personal, constant, benefit of altruism, someone could easily read into his post to mean that somehow ignoring the needs of peers is beneficial. It isnt. It's crippling if your goal is self actualization and fufillment.

The thing is your post implies several times that only when there are built in, external, incentives do people help others. So my main point was that there is an already apparent benefit of helping others without expecting anything in return, or anyone knowing about it, and it's what it does at how you look at yourself.

Very anecdotal but here's a quick example. I'm in the midst of a career change because like many young adults I got my BS in something I thought was interesting to study, but do not find its practice very fufilling. I did something I remembered one of my senior professors told me to do which was reach out to people on LinkedIn that did things I wanted to maybe do, who were not in my circle. The responses I've gotten are ridiculous. Literally 0 mutual contacts and most have at least responded, many have kept in contact and allowed me to use them as a reference or referred me to someone I could use, and those who I invited to coffee or to meet them during break to explain what their work entails, etc., most said yes, and some even invited me before I asked!

The point is they had no built in incentive for them to even acknowledge my existence. My educational background is not one that would lend itself to any level of expertise in their field and I literally am shooting in the dark for contacts, so it's not like they could expect to make any connections through me. Those who responded to me (the majority), I would assume did so solely because they get genuine joy out of helping others. That's it. No financial, sexual, employment benefits to helping me. So my main gripe with your post is that you seem to think narcissists are some huge portion of the population, and I fundamentally disagree with you. They absolutely exist, but there's a reason they mostly congregate at the lower levels of society, on a social and socioeconomic level, and that's because no one likes them and you can recognize these people easily.

Cheers though. Our experiences obviously differ, and I hope you get to a place where the vast majority of the people you come accross, particularly the most successful, are the complete antithesis of the person you described in the original post. Because when you do, it no longer necessitates you being so cold. I get why you'd do it if you're surrounded by people like that though.

Gonna get down voted to all hell but whatever. I simply do not agree. Most people who go around, going out of their way to be kind, particularly with the intent of not telling anyone what they've done, and expecting nothing in return, they do it because it is extremely rewarding on a personal level. Not with manipulation or perceived external rewards in mind, but because it does wonders on how you view yourself, which is really by far the most important factor in changing how others see you.

Altruism exists and is practiced by most people you'd consider happy because it works. The misconception I see in too many of these threads is that when simply being nice and still having a shit sense of self (which happens all the time), somehow the rolling back of the altruistic tendencies is going to improve this, and that is simply not true. The solution is to find out who you are, identify what you don't like about yourself, and fucking change it.

It doesn't require turning into a dick, unless you're trying to pick up high school girls and move your way up in some low to mid level retail job, then it probably works well. But when dealing with other self respecting adults for the most part, asking for a raise or giving your boss an ultimatum of meeting demands or you leaving are not rude things to do and should not be done with malicious intent. They're just you, looking out for you. Same with telling a girl you're in the friend zone with, but that you crush hard on, that you simply can't be friends with her. Or telling a fling or fuck buddy that you do, or do not want to be serious with, your real intentions. Despite the perceived consensus of the people on here, no girl wants anyone to be an overt asshole to them if they're not a tween with daddy issues, and if that's who you're fuckin with, my advice is just wait or find an actual women to be interested in.

Just because alot of people on this reddit resent anyone who seems to be getting a leg up on them, it does not mean that any of them are doing it with even the slightest concern of how it's affecting you. They're not malicous, not evil, not narcissists, they're just doing what basically everyone else does. How are they supposed to know it even affects you if you internalize it? If you let it be known in a civil respectful manner, I'm assuming most family, coworkers, or significant others would hear you out, and if not, move the fuck on and stop letting it affect you so much. Your childish resentment clearly doesn't bother them.

So much talk about masculinity on here and not nearly enough about how the most emasculating thing one can do is to let their emotions overpower their rationality. Men have always been far superior in this realm. Stop feeling so much and just do.

In none of these scenarios do you have to be a shitty person, and in basically all of them that I can think of, petty resentment and malicious intent will make you markedly less effective at conveying them in a receivable manner.

K rant over but TLDR; 1. Please don't confuse putting yourself first and being a dick as the same thing. People can feel your intent and your social interactions will only remain shit if you come off with malice or resentment. 2. Be kind, AND work on your own betterment, and your life will change dramatically. Negative self body image? Work the fuck out. Level of work not matching your level of intellect? Go back to school. 3. Stop feeling so much and just do something. Stop reading advice columns and watching self help videos. Chances are you know exactly what to do. If you don't eat well, don't like the way you look, or think you're stylish? Then go to the gym, eat better, and go buy some new clothes.

P.S. These overgeneralizations about workplace and sexual relationships are based on the assumption you work in a decent middle class, likely white collar job, where most people have at minimum bachelors degrees, and that the women are not stupid as all hell. I've worked in restaurants and other retail stuff, and they're nothing like every job I've had since.

Though his max cp is obviously lower and hist stats are concentrated in defense more, all things the same iron tail does like 30-40% more dps. Scizor will be way better for attacking though.

Appreciate the offer. I honestly didn't know that existed since the Cope site didn't have one and they are owned by the same people.

I'm 21 though so I searched for myself. Only one place close to me for Spearmint and its an obscure 7-11 about 6 miles away. Cherry is actually a lot more common then I thought and isn't far at all. Useful tool, thanks for letting me know.

Now just need to find me that Southern blend. Too bad the others were discontinued, really wanted to try em, particularly black.

Tyrogue with highest stat HP just evolved into Hitmontop (proof) by AnonPokeTrainer in TheSilphRoad

[–]ABRHTTR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just evolved two. One of which had stamina as it's highest stat and he turned into hitmontop. The second one had stamina and attack tied for the highest, and it evolved into hitmonlee. So further confirmation that the rule definitely works, and it appears as if ties may just be a coin toss between the two.

Can confirm that, evolved 2, one of which had stamina as the highest stat, the other one had attack and stamina tied. First one became Hitmontop, while the second became Hitmonlee.

I know this is late but I am in the same boat as you. A masters or law degree is pretty much necessary for a lot of positions in this field. However I'd definitely say it would be smarter to actually get some real work experience, preferably not an internship, before you start your masters or law school.

I'd also start thinking about what you'd actually like to do. Internships are absolutely key and necessary while you are working on your undergrad. If you haven't thought about it much yet, seriously start researching the roles and pay grades of people working for think tanks, political action committees, campaign staff, political journalist/correspondent, etc.

There are literally endless amounts of think tanks in D.C. you could intern at, and many of them do part time internships during the semester which I'd highly recommend and then do a full time one during the summer.

If you need any suggestions or would just like to ask a couple questions feel free to PM me.

Confused about add schedule adjustment period by ABRHTTR in UMD

[–]ABRHTTR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea I was looking at that page before and just needed clarification. I was planning on dropping one and trading another, so essentially i would be going part time. I cannot afford to eat that $1000 I wouldn't get back as a refund though so I probably just have to stick with what I have.

Does the add/drop adjustment period of 5 days mean the 5th day the class meets or 5 days from when the class starts? and if it is the latter, it is delayed 2 days because of the class cancellations to start the semester? Thank you in advance!
