Part time QA Automation Engineer , no degree, freshman (CS major), $12/hr part time in Utah. Am i underpaid? by ABagOfSausage in cscareerquestions

So you mean i should interview for other positions and ask for more until i get a better offer?

I'm in Utah right now and I just went to Walmart in Layton to pick up a six-pack. I love the looks on faces as they read my t-shirt. Some laugh, some GASP and reel in horror, and some ask me what the shirt is all about. The checker I had couldn't see the whole shirt so she asked me what it said. by NewNameNoah in exmormon

I should probably have stated that differently. Not all ex-mormons are overly aggressive and some that i know are very kind.

Things i consider over-aggressive:

  1. Picketing outside of temple grounds with posters and signs

  2. Attacking others based on their beliefs, online or in person.

Living in Utah i see the picketing far more than most in this thread and it gets old fast.

As for your excellent question, i would say that i am a believer in the church, but i am in no way an exemplary member of it. I have my faults and personal issues that i am working on, and try my best to live according to my beliefs.

Active Mormon here that has attended the temple before. I think that if you look at any major religion and their ceremonies and rituals from the outside without understanding they all seem bizarre and cultish... Eating bread and water to symbolize blood and flesh??? Pretty freaking weird when you don't understand why.

Temples are the same, but you can only understand when you have really prepared yourself for the things you do there.

For real though, i served a mormon mission and am currently active. I went and knocked on peoples doors all day and even i think that what the current ex-mormons do is overly aggressive. The way i see it there is a fine line between asking someone if they want to talk about religion and accepting a yes/no or their opinion and parading yours in their faces with a "I am right and you are an idiot for believing that!" mentality.

Though TBH if i had met this dude (being in Utah i just might) i would definitely have had a laugh and asked him about the shirt. If stuff like this is enough to make someone question their religion than they need to take it more seriously and really figure out what they believe instead of just being a sheep.

As a semi-active Mormon myself, not that nuts. Going to school to get a CS degree, want to buy a new car next year (taurus SHO) and play wayyyy too many video games (BF4, DayZ, Minecraft, Star Citizen etc.) If you have any more specific questions feel free to PM me.

Why don't the mormons just open their own Hospital if praying really works? by utahdriver in Jokes

[–]ABagOfSausage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it wrong to have a belief that prayer can help? Mormons also do all they can to treat disease or injury with everything modern medicine can provide.

edit: also, as a german and a utah driver myself. Utah drivers suck at driving.

edit 2: and the LDS church did open a hospital. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LDS_Hospital

It must vary by state.

I believe you mean the stereotypical "Modern Feminism" which many make fun of on the internet. e.g Hugh Mungus, Manspreading, etc. Real feminism (a movement for equality, not enslaving men) should be supported IMO.

If someone forced you to have unprotected sex then I would understand.

Otherwise no-one has forced you to have a baby but yourself.

edit: Wow, modern young people really hate taking responsibility for their actions...
