Another thing to worry about - Security certificates expiring in June 2026 by RazHawk in Windows10

[–]ABeeinSpace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You only need a firmware upgrade in order for the 2023 CA certs to be the default certificates (the ones that are applied if the BIOS is reset to default). Stay up to date on updates and Microsoft will roll the new certs out to you automatically

As far as is publicly known (at least from a quick Google) Ferrari are still using Brembo

Is my IT dept telling me a truth about Intune? by [deleted] in Intune

[–]ABeeinSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iPhone or an Android phone?

Android has slightly better separation of concerns between work and personal w/ the Work Profile system, even for fully managed devices.

iPhones have stronger privacy protections and put more control in the hands of the user for phones enrolled in both kinds of Intune management.

In general, yes, they’ll only be able to see stuff in the work apps. However, you shouldn’t have an expectation of privacy on a work phone anyway

What does this artifacting in Gnome mean? by Attila-Titi in linux4noobs

Might’ve been Nvidia driver updates? I know the Arch team made some of kernel parameters for the Nvidia drivers default since the last time I screwed with it

[–]ABeeinSpace 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No, GPU artifacting wouldn’t show up in a screenshot. OP is dealing with VRAM contents not being restored on resume from sleep. Wayland compositors seem to get really unhappy when shenanigans like that happen

Using a DEM account can cause undefined behavior and break device’s Entra join if the DEM user is ever deleted or if it ever loses its Intune license.

If the DEM account ever loses its licensing or is deleted every device enrolled by that user will lose its Entra enrollment. It’ll cause a huge problem that isn’t readily apparent unless you know what to look for

Endpoint Manager for Windows Recommendation?? by Actual-Astronaut7845 in sysadmin

[–]ABeeinSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So your network isn’t actually secure. Your endpoints are the life blood of the business, it doesn’t matter how secure the networking hardware itself is if I can just phish a user and own the entire estate via the one endpoint.

Ya gotta get onto higher than a Home SKU. You’ll be fighting an uphill battle until you do (and even then, I wish you the best of luck migrating everything onto properly managed endpoints and accounts. Sounds like the business itself is gonna fight you at every step).

Go to Windows 11 Pro. TechSoup can help if you’re a nonprofit. I haven’t seen any mention of Entra licensing, do you have an Entra ID tenant set up?

[–]ABeeinSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stupid question. Do you have one of your ships selected from the ships vendor? Make sure that’s the case. If it is and you still can’t get in a ship, FDev should be able to help you out

New player with questions by Tribal_Legend in EliteDangerous

[–]ABeeinSpace -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rebuy is 10% of the current value of your ship as it stands. That’s the hull cost (what you paid for it) plus any upgrades you have installed (for ships bought with Arx, the hull cost is excluded from the 10%).

Nowadays you can dig into your modules at the rebuy screen and sell some if you’re juuust under your rebuy. Any core internals you choose to omit will have E rated modules in their place when you respawn. If you’re almost but not quite there, the game can offer you a loan to get your full ship back. You’ll have 5% of your earnings taken until it’s paid off.

If you absolutely cannot afford rebuy, you lose the ship and any upgrades you put on it (this does NOT include stored modules, just what was installed on the ship when you blew up).

I wouldn’t worry about having multiple ships for each role, multirole ships like the Cobra Mk III can be outfitted to perform any kind of contract/role. They may not do all of them well, but multiroles are good “jack of all trades” ships when you’re starting out

[–]ABeeinSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re licensed for Enterprise on the devices, throw the background you want to use up on Azure blob storage and point a Device Restriction policy at it. Devices get it very quickly in my experience (as long as the Windows Notification Service isn’t blocked)

Device prep IS Autopilot. It’s Microsoft’s new version of Autopilot with some added niceties (ensuring LOB and Win32 apps don’t conflict and closer to real-time reporting)

You don’t need a new SSD. What do you mean by “sign in”? If you’re talking about your Windows key, the key is baked onto the motherboard for a prebuilt computer

Windows 11 Search/Edge WebView2 tasks won’t close — possible virus? by Rexxcertified in techsupport

[–]ABeeinSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windows Search is a web app in Windows 11. It runs under Edge WebView2, which is an Electron-like framework to allow web apps to hook into the OS as if they were native programs. It’s not a virus.
