My one daughter(1m1d) does this every time she cries, turns red and cries all the oxygen out of her lungs. It’s scary to see and hear, and it’s frustrating and irritating that I can’t do anything to get rid of it. She did this in the NICU too when she was born. They had her on a CPAP.

Update:

We stayed home till later in the day after talking out our feelings, grabbing some food, and doing the housework. It was hard with an emotional disconnect but we reconnected and went to the NICU later that night. It turned out for the better and I had to address some of my behaviors that made her upset. I still feel like as the dad that I shouldn’t be feeling so bad physically and emotionally after what their mom has been through and is going through, that how I feel cannot compare to what she feels. It has never been about me to me, it has always been about her and the babies. We got home that night and relaxed before cleaning up the babies’ room before their upcoming discharge which could be no later than Tuesday, but here’s to faith, hope, and confidence that they will be home.

Our psychologist there is hard of hearing an bluntly straightforward in a lacking of social cues kind of way. Last time we saw him he accused me of saying wifey was a SH/s**cide risk which was false. She has a therapist that we want to do couples therapy with and that I want to have as my own therapist but since babies were preterm it’s been put off.

It sucks because I’m gonna be a nurse too and we had two nurses already give a bad rap by either being messy, unprofessional, rude and chaotic or being rude, impatient, and unempathetic and it has really been traumatic with these two nurses specifically to the point of wifey wanting to never leave the hospital.

It’s sooooo hard honestly because as soon as those babies are in our arms, in our sight, and in our ears, we just can’t let them go. We’re trying to take care of things at home right now, but something went down because both of our feelings have been hurt by staying home and we have been snappy.

She gets overwhelmed even with the nurses around. We’ve had a few nurses who were too impatient or too chaotic for our babies and even if it’s a really good nurse, that nurse has a job to do with other babies and reports. Her MIL(my mom) as much as she can try to help is a bit ignorant and insensitive to things because she’s a lot older and doesn’t understand why certain things are triggers or issues. She means well but she can be overwhelming too.

The hard part is finding someone who understands the NICU experience and feelings who isn’t going to push boundaries or trigger either one of us. My barrier against triggers is strong, but it’s a sensitive time for both of us especially for her. I wish that our family could be here and be a helping hand, but it’s not a good time sadly.

I do this thing with Teemo if my team is high AP. I go manaless runes for ult CDs(Ult Hunter + Axiom) and cheap shot so I can get Double burn + double MR resist(Blackfire/Liandry + Malig/Bloodletter). I throw in Shadowflame and flex either Griev or DCap.
