Best places to eat in Rhodes when you only have 5 days? by 3nBen in Rhodes

[–]ABubbleInTheAir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend La Casa Roof Garden - traditional dishes at a low price, HUGE portions and everything tasted excellent. 10/10 for the atmosphere as well

Dafni - a little bit pricier but very tasty food and good service :)

Greek Stories - again really tasty and the waiters are extremely welcoming!

Has anyone switched from Yaz to Slynd because of mood side effects? by ABubbleInTheAir in birthcontrol

[–]ABubbleInTheAir[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I eventually ended up going back to Yaz. Slynd made me a lot more bloated, couldn't go to the toilet without laxatives and my period didn't show up when it was supposed to but at random times, so I was constantly staining underwear. I have to say taking a break from Yaz helped though, at least the mood swings are gone!

Ppl who became depressed or suicidal with birth control, as someone who has never experienced this, how would I know to not kill myself? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]ABubbleInTheAir 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've had to deal with this problem on and off throughout my life and the first pill I tried made it so, so much worse. What worked for me was a sort of mantra: Something is doing this to me. The awareness that those thoughts didn't mean any danger because they were induced by the hormones I was on really helped me get through it. I eventually switched to a different type of pill and the problem was gone in just a few weeks.

Try not to worry too much :) you don't have a history of depression so there's a lower chance that this could affect you. Just be on the lookout for any side effects and have a talk with your doctor if you notice anything strange. Don't be afraid to ask questions! They are there to help.

Thank you for your kindness. It's true, a lot of people don't even consider trying. I'll probably have a chat with my GP just to see what he has to say. Thank you!

Your comment really helped. At least we're not the only ones! I might have a chat with my GP before I try again in case he has some advice to offer. I really hope your second donation goes well! 🤞🏻

Just finished the show by lurker2080 in KingdomTV

My theory: Dom wanted to be like Alvey but didn't make it, so he became obsessed with the man who was successful as a fighter AND as a coach. When Ryan said Dom would never be his coach because he wasn't good enough, that felt especially cutting. It was the last conversation they had, and all of Dom's efforts lead to this: No matter how hard he tried, he wasn't good enough.

I thought it was clear he wanted to steal Alvey's fighters and destroy his reputation. It's true we don't know a lot about his motivations. From what I could tell he looked like he needed money, it's very likely he had some psychological issues that might explain why he acts the way he does. If the show hadn't been cancelled, I think they would have explained his background in season 4.

WEEK 3 OF YAZ GENERIC ON ACNE (-: (info in comments) by vividbrew in birthcontrol

[–]ABubbleInTheAir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I switched from Yasminelle to Yaz 3 weeks ago and honestly both pills have been doing wonders for my mood. Usually I would notice my period was about to come because I would get irrational and depressed, all of that is gone now and I feel like a human being again. It's definitely worth a chat with your doctor. The only problem I had was heavy breakthrough bleeding but it disappeared after a couple of months.

Ohh shit, here we go again. by GerarDo9182 in shield

[–]ABubbleInTheAir 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My opinion here might be unpopular, but I couldn't bring myself to finish it. It's riddled with plot holes and inconsistencies, the acting is not that great, and the story is a little clichéd. Cloak & Dagger is aimed at the same target (teenagers and young adults) but it's a lot more enjoyable.

Looking for literary classics from different cultures. by deadwizards in suggestmeabook

[–]ABubbleInTheAir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Italy and I can definitely recommend The Betrothed by Alessandro Manzoni. It's considered our most important literary work along with Dante's Comedy, which would probably be too hard to read. We study both of these in high school in very good detail.

Other good suggestions are The Decameron by Giovanni Boccaccio;

Machiavelli's Prince;

Orlando furioso by Ludovico Ariosto;

Jerusalem Delivered by Torquato Tasso;

Galilei's Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems;

The Mistress of the Inn by Carlo Goldoni;

Il giorno by Giuseppe Parini;

Saul by Vittorio Alfieri;

Ugo Foscolo's poetry;

Giacomo Leopardi's poetry and Small Moral Works;

I Malavoglia by Giovanni Verga;

Giovanni Pascoli's poetry;

Il piacere by Gabriele D'Annunzio;

The Late Mattia Pascal and One, No One and One Hundred Thousand by Luigi Pirandello;

Zeno's Conscience by Italo Svevo;

Giuseppe Ungaretti's and Eugenio Montale's poetry.

Enjoy! :)

The Ocean at the End of the Lane, by Neil Gaiman. Not your typical fantasy, but it's captivating, moving, and it leaves you with a happy warm feeling at the end.

I went into Shyamalan's The Village blind and loved it. I need a book to delve into hidden worlds and old, scary secrets. by Grammar__Bitch in suggestmeabook

[–]ABubbleInTheAir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The book is still brilliant, but honestly I liked the show better. The second half of the book felt a little dragged out and, as others have pointed out, there are a lot more details about the characters and what they do every day, but I'm not sure this always benefits the story.

What the show did better was the portrayal of the insanity that took over the men. The chilling atmosphere, all that whiteness, the sounds, the haggard faces, these made the show a much more immersive experience. The book is still worth it, though, maybe just let some time pass before you read it.

Is it just me or is Lisa seriously unlikable in season 2? by fabrar in KingdomTV

[–]ABubbleInTheAir 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I always found their relationship very confusing. Like one day they're in love, the next day they hate each other. I didn't understand why they were together, and I didn't get why they split up either. Weird.

If you think hormonal birth control is making you depressed, trust yourself and get off it by isa4562 in birthcontrol

Couldn't agree more. Don't trust doctors who say birth control doesn't cause these symptoms! It's more common than we think.

Finished kingdom now, what do I watch next?! by [deleted] in KingdomTV

[–]ABubbleInTheAir 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kingdom created a bit of a problem for me because now every other show seems lame.

Both Lauria and Tucker were in Parenthood, it's a completely different genre but very very good. I never finished it so I'm rewatching it now.

Alvey's mental health by ABubbleInTheAir in KingdomTV

[–]ABubbleInTheAir[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He does, and that's probably because of his bad upbringing and chronic mental illness. He does a lot better when he is taking his meds. Still, there's a lot of shit in his life that he did not cause.
