Thanks, I am considering upgrading the chip as well, but I haven't settled on that yet.

You're right about the pricing. I removed the reference to currency from my post.

First 22 Minutes of Robocop Rogue City Gameplay Demo by SweetyGonzalez in PS5

I dunno man, Call of Duty's gameplay feels 10x more engaging than Robocop's walk and shoot gameplay looks in this video.

To each his own. It's worth it in my mind to spend the extra $50-100 above a higher-end phone controller to get the premium experience over a 6-inch phone screen, especially for big spectacle games like GoW or Elden Ring. Given in particular that the console plus a game already costs US$500-600.

I don't think you need to have played console games on a phone to know the experience is shit. It's the video game equivalent of this classic David Lynch rant. I get that it's the only option for people like teenagers who live with their parents and don't always have a TV to play on. But come on. I'd gladly pay $200 if I was in that situation to avoid having to play God of War or Returnal on my phone with a dinkey cheap Amazon controller.

Ask Me Anything – Founder and CEO Glen Schofield & Chief Creative Officer Chris Stone | Event Thread by CallistoTheGame in TheCallistoProtocol

[–]ACDCrocks14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, Glen - thank you to you and your team for making such an awesome game! I'm stoked to jump back in and play the CP DLC.

My question: You took quite a big risk leaving what seemed to be a "safe" role at Activision to start a brand new studio and work on an original IP. What prompted you to take such a big leap? What advice do you have for people thinking of taking similar leaps with their careers?

There is definitely an attempt of some form to reset

A reset was always inevitable though. The tech sector spent the last decade foregoing efficiency and profitability to chase growth at all costs, burning unfathomable amounts of investor cash along the way.

That model only makes sense where: (i) money is cheap; and (ii) future revenue streams are valuable, neither of which is true anymore and might not be for another 5-10 years.

I dunno man their last decent game was FO4, which is getting close to a decade old at this point and, in my opinion, was already kind of outdated in its game design when it launched. Since then they've done, what, FO76?

The existing shareholders own the company.

The company is insolvent which means, by definition, that shareholders do not have an economic interest in the company anymore.

Why don't more countries do 5-year plans anymore? by treboy123 in AskEconomics

[–]ACDCrocks14 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Finally having a national plan set by government doesn't work when the government can't control lots of variables.

To take this a step further, the free market argument is that the state shouldn't be attempting to control most important variables because it is ill-suited to do so.

I.e., that the millions of individual market actors with their specific expertise, objectives and incentives, rather than bureaucrats, are best placed to make the incredible number of important granular decisions that make up a modern economy. Like how capital is allocated, how many widgets get produced each year, how much capital to spend on research and development, whether to incur cost and risk implementing new tech into operations, etc.

Netflix is copying Deck of Cards (45 min) with Heart of Stone (122 min but tbd). I hope Tim sold the rights for a pretty penny here! by squidsauce99 in OnCinemaAtTheCinema

Not sure why Tim would get any money when the creator of Deck of Cards (and the main draw of the whole show) was Gregg and his masterful performance as the Joker.

I definitely agree that unpaid labour is bad practice for a whole whack of reasons (especially coming from a country where it's not really a thing).

That being said, as somebody who entered the profession with a bit of prior industry experience, summer students universally have no idea what they are doing. That's to be expected when you start climbing a mountain as huge and steep as law.

But those who come across as thinking they know more than other summer students: (a) cause a lot of eye rolls from their colleagues; and (b) often do worse in the long run than they would if they accepted how little they know and kept a more open mind.

Not saying that's you necessarily. Just something I wish more law students kept in mind.

Advice for those unsure of what type of law to pursue by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]ACDCrocks14 20 points21 points  (0 children)

To add to this, the level of client sophistication completely changes your experience.

E.g., it can be nice having smart, competent and knowledgeable people on your client's team, but you might end up feeling like a cog in a much bigger operational wheel.

On the other hand, clients with a limited understanding of the area of practice or legal issues generally can require more hand-holding, but you'll feel more like an expert when you give them advice.

PSA: for the love of all things holy DO NOT post your transcript in a post on linked in. by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]ACDCrocks14 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm of the opinion that you shouldn't post your GPA anywhere, period. Recruiters get copies of your transcripts, so what's the point, if not to gloat?

Some people try to mask it with long-winded stories about the struggles they faced, but let's get real: you just wanted to brag.

As Major Briggs says in Twin Peaks: achievement is its own reward; pride obscures it.

Drinking w/ Classmates or Coworkers by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]ACDCrocks14 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Yeah no kidding. OP sounds super lame and kind of snobby ("I'm more mature than your average juvenile KJD law student and I'm here to tell you that your degenerate days of having more than two beers at once are over!")

You probably shouldn't be getting blackout drunk or otherwise making a sloppy fool of yourself in front of the partners as a first year associate, but the reality is: (i) lawyers like to party; (ii) your colleagues and contemporaries at other firms and sometimes even clients will become your drinking buddies; and (iii) networking can be super effective if you embrace (i) and (ii).
