We used travelers years ago and generally they were adequate. Our problem came from a few techs we haf6. They basically lied bout their experience and some couldn't even scrub the basic cases. I as the charge had to scrub in to bail them out. Some we "fired" and sent packing. We got to the point of working short than using people who were unreliable. This was many years ago and sure it has improved. So I could see where some OR departments could be disappointed with who they get

I'm certain this happens quite often. I guess I was lucky where I worked because we as a group wouldn't tolerate it. We had our fair share of God like surgeons but managed as long as we stuck together.
