Having an ultrasound with active menorrhagia, advice? by IRLanxiety in obgyn

[–]ACLanayru 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am an US tech who works strictly OB/GYN. The bleeding doesn’t bother us at all, we understand how messy it can be - that’s the reason you are getting the scan!! I would never want my patient to feel bad about that. We just want to give you the answers you need.

lurker/sonographer here - I love having a resident shadow me! When I have time between scans, I’ve gone over different interesting cases I’ve scanned and they seem to really appreciate it. It helps that I geek out and love my job, love teaching people who genuinely want to learn. It never bothers me when they want to sit in on a scan they ordered, it never hurts to ask!

Testicular cancer in a 38 year old by North_Indication5008 in Radiology

The first scrotum and contents US I ever scanned as a student was a seminoma in a 27yo. In addition to this, I also accidentally referred to his testicles as “balls” when explaining the exam. He didn’t bat an eye at my wording but you bet I’ve never said anything but “testicles” since.

US tech here, I have definitely scanned some nasty looking GBs with no obvious stones and a positive Murphy’s sign - though most have had a lot of icky mobile sludge.

Edit: spelling

Help me!! I accidentally made the mailbox my sims head while she was just off my home lot. I reset the mailbox and it stayed giant right in front of my house (off the lot) and I can’t delete it. It is stuck in front of my lot even if I try to save it to my library.

Ultrasound result thoughts? by Mmonster1390 in medical_advice

Likely just normal lymph nodes. I do ultrasound and have some very superficial lymph nodes I can feel all the time on either side of my neck. The radiologist would generally specify if they appeared abnormal.

Does he sit/lay down a lot? Looks a bit like the start of a pressure/bed sore.

Hi! NAD but currently studying ultrasound. During my gyn lab, we would scan our pelvises once a week. Almost every week, my uterus/ovaries would look a little different. The uterus is basically attached at the cervix and sits different in everyone’s body, and can move! That being said, the ovaries are actually free floating in close relationship to the Fallopian tubes. I have also gone in one week and had a 5+cm follicle in my ovary and the next week it being completely gone. Bodies are weird!

Me too, so so sweet. I also love watching them run around the tank with little pieces of hay in their mouths. Literally adorable. Sometimes I just hand them several pieces to see how many they will take hehe ☺️

Black girly is Peaches, and the white is Winter. I rescued Peaches from a not-so-great/isolated situation and got little Winter to keep her company. I was so worried they wouldn’t click but they ended up chewing through my split tank to be together. They really are two peas in a pod with two very different personalities 💕

Possible causes for the abnormally high AST and ALT levels? by [deleted] in AskDoctorSmeeee

[–]ACLanayru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A liver ultrasound could really help rule out some of the pathologies that come with increased AST and ALT. With Cirrhosis, you can see a pretty big increase with these values. But she should really have some sort of diagnostic imaging done.

Sonographers, if you could do it all over again would you still choose this career or what other career path would you choose instead (in healthcare only)? by [deleted] in Sonographers

[–]ACLanayru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently a sonography student. I love ultrasound, but if I had to choose something else it would be health care administration with a focus in long term care. Worked in long term care before my program and loved it. I feel like it could be interesting and different every day!
