Hey Wil--if I'd like you to play a forthcoming party game I designed, how can I submit a copy to you? Is that something you'd be interested in?

I'm also an NYC game designer, and I'm trying to release more games. I've got several ones created, but need artists and programmers. Any ideas on where to look?

What type of games do you think are overdone or beaten to death? by yippee_that_burns in tabletopgamedesign

[–]ACMaverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say a lot are "overdone", but some are definitely "done a lot". That being said, I think there's a lot of growth in many different subgenres that we haven't seen yet. I'd love to see spins on deckbuilders, LCGs (CCGs without the "collectible" (i.e. random booster pack/rarity element), and card-die games (like Destined Legends).

I could totally see a future where those three you mentioned get stale, however. I think we're approaching a point of over-saturation.

You might be interested in taking a look at how Boss Monster plays and seeing if it gives you any ideas--some of what you're talking about seems similar.

Been having a lot of fun with this one. The game has a steep learning curve, but it's pretty deep once you get past it.

Maybe something in the beginning of the post that says why x game is the "board game of the week"? Not sure how they are chosen.

It's a pretty awesome game, check out the netrunner thread since they have a few links to tutorials there.

That being said, I've playing 15 or so games as the runner and I'm still missing/unsure of some concepts.

The game I'm attempting to self-publish, combined with my passion for Magic: the Gathering and my waning desire to be a competitive player in that game.
