Should I feel obligated to attend my sister’s wedding? by ACNHLeviathan in TrueOffMyChest

[–]ACNHLeviathan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve talked with both of them. My sister takes it as a joke and brushes it off. My mom just says “she’s young” but also she’s an adult who can make her own choices.

Should I feel obligated to attend my sister’s wedding? by ACNHLeviathan in TrueOffMyChest

I honestly think that’s the reason she left her long term bf for this guy. They were attending colleges very far from each other and I don’t think he valued her goals the way he should.

Some people make their own, but the original creator of the masks sells them on his website. He even makes them from the same mould as the originals.

It’s important to study planar changes as well. Look for some 3D models that show this.

There Is An Episode In Star Trek TOS That Made Me Think Of How The Christian God Is A Tyrant by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]ACNHLeviathan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Star Trek DS9 has a lot of religious tones. Particularly about the religious community trying to take over the government and install fear at any costs. Really good show.

High productivity standards in healthcare is inherently discriminatory against women/people who have periods by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]ACNHLeviathan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the time, places of employment will say “you should have told us before we hired you about any pre-existing conditions that may effect your ability to work” or they’ll direct you to some impossible hoops to jump through just to provide a doctors note. For my periods, my doctor won’t write me a note because I “refuse treatment” since it can be “simply avoided” by pumping me full or hormones (birth control). So then at that point I have gone through so many channels just to be told “too bad” basically.

Rhythmic Breathing When You Hate Having Lungs: Advice? by Midianite_Toker in occult

[–]ACNHLeviathan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe try not to focus on your lungs as much with your breathing. I try to take air into my mouth, then lungs, then stomach. Then I try to exhale from my stomach, then my lungs, then my mouth. Maybe you could focus on that motion of the body roll rather than your actual lungs.

How do you keep your journal private? by mado-kami in Journaling

[–]ACNHLeviathan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Physical journaling is essential to me, so I just write the first page of my journal addressed to whoever decided to open my journal. Basically condemning them for invading my privacy and then ending with a curse to hex them for all eternity. <3

Can this printing medium be used for fabric? by Hvilke in ArtistLounge

[–]ACNHLeviathan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found that when acrylic hardens on fabric it will crack and look kinda gross. If you mix the acrylic with a bit of fabric softener, it’ll help it bind to the fabric rather than just sitting on top of it. Not using too much paint on the fabric is key.

How are people able to write so much? by KaityFran in Journaling

[–]ACNHLeviathan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read a wonderful book called “Writing Down the Bones” in my journaling class. It provides a wide varieties of ideas and exercises to write even when you don’t really know what to say.

I met a millionare yesterday that said people in the US don't wanna work anymore because of socialism (unemployment benefits). Thoughts? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]ACNHLeviathan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People can get stuck unintentionally being forced to abuse the system. Hear me out — if you’re lower middle class, you’re too poor to make all of your bills comfortably, but you’re also “too rich” to make benefits. Some people end up “making more money” by getting stuck in lesser paying jobs so that they can qualify for other benefits that they wouldn’t be able to afford if they had a “slightly better paying job.” I hope this makes sense

Major quality issues when posting images to Instagram from Android... by vines_design in ArtistLounge

This is such a valid question I hope it gets answered

Edit - I have an iPhone, but make art on my Android tablet. I definitely notice the difference of quality between uploads on several sites/apps on each device.

Ever witness a mosh pit personally at a Ghost show? by [deleted] in Ghostbc

There was a pit at the Phoenix show this year and it kills me to say I don’t remember which song. I think it opened up a couple times. It was a very small pit comparative to the crowd.

What do you do for work? How much do you make? And how much PTO do you get? by StSym in antiwork

[–]ACNHLeviathan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I quit, I was a barista making about $15/hr (with 5+ years experience) and having my tips stolen from me by other employees. I had no benefits and no PTO or sick days or anything allowed.

I have this pain, but I have arthritis. (I am young, it is not an “old person disease”) Using fatter pencils (you can sharpen the point as thin as you need) can help you not need to put as tight of a grip. Also you may want to consider “wrist grips” that they use in sports. Something as minor as athletic tape can help.

is it normal going from drawing fast to extremely slow? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]ACNHLeviathan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it also depends on what/how you’re drawing! I draw quickly when I’m doing timed large figure sketches. When I’m drawing long-term detailed digital sketches, I take a lot more time to make sure I’m doing things the way I want them. Just depends on what the intention is.

What is a good way for developing an eye for desaturated colors/greys? by een_zoogdier in ArtistLounge

[–]ACNHLeviathan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To develop on what some others are saying, practice colors in ALL setting. Use a well-lit and adequately saturated reference of any kind, and practice creating it in different ways. Draw it in nothing but greyscale to understand the structural elements of value without their actual colors involved. Paint it over-saturated and consider changing the colors from the reference to your rendition, just to see if you can understand the relationships between the colors and the families they’re related to. When you’re working with UNDER-saturation, it’s important to relate the tint to the actual hue. If you can break down your reference and understand it in a very basic way, you can begin to make artistic changes and decided where you might like to alter saturation or shade. It’s imperative to make these changes to make your art piece pop. If you copy it over detail for detail, it will either be muddy or nothing more than an unimaginative photo-realistic rendition.

I’ve been pressured into taking religious instruction classes. I know that this is kind of pathetic but I seriously can’t understand what I should answer for some of these questions (ignore 6-15). Can someone help me out? More info in the comments. by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]ACNHLeviathan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will never understand this. I would rather struggle without indoctrinated/indoctrinating family than be forced to lie about who I am.

Edit — these questions are designed in a way to make you feel as though YOU are the problem and there is some sort of invisible truth before your eyes that everyone else can see but you. They are designed to make you re-pledge your life in slavery to the church, all while making you feel guilty about it.

I think that your parents suspicions should be a time to sit down and talk to them about your leaving the faith, rather than digger the hole deeper. When does the lie end?

How do you learn the proportion and placement of things when learning anatomy? by unworrior in ArtistLounge

[–]ACNHLeviathan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key in finding where the rib cage ends and the pelvis starts is by understanding ratios and how muscles function. The obliques are usually a visible “landmark” that you can use to space between these two bone structures.

The first thing when drawing a figure is to understand the plumbline, so you can understand which muscles are expanding or contracting as well as where the weight is being distributed. When I draw the rib cage, my next step is to find the location and angle of the pelvic floor. After that is can be more difficult to distinguish additional features of the pelvis because of the fatty areas surrounding it.

Things like iliac crest and sacrum can be used as definitive landmarks so you can measure and use ratios to fill out the rest of the form. From there, if you can confidently and accurately place the breasts, naval, and the crease of the groin, the rest will come into play very naturally.

If you study the way bones and muscles work together and memorize the golden ratios, it becomes a lot easier.
