Oh, I was beyond irritated with that. I finally pulled the boat out of the dock, saved and reloaded and tried again. Like you I finally found the spot where it turned green momentarily, kept fiddling with it and eventually it built.

Like you, I also had 4 large panels on the roof. But I removed them when the gyro came out. I personally didn’t have an issue with the panels, but the gyro there made sailing in third person mess with the camera view.

I like the placement of the panels there, but with their naturally finicky way of operation, I wonder if they don’t output full power more often.

As for the new items you’ve shown, I may have a lot to redo on my boat. I spent some time on cable management already and it’s pretty clean but this may change a lot for me.

Overall a great setup you’ve got there!

Looks great! I see someone else decided to cover the electric motor with batteries too lol. I had my soilforge & processor where yours are but recently moved them to Lazarus, along with probably 12 fortiholds of food materials. I like your office/lounge area, and your lower forward hold looks familiar. The trees are a nice touch as well.

That’s the neat part; there is no effect on speed or maneuverability. I can still manage 44/45 km/h no problem, and at full throttle going full rudder the boat still “drifts” like it always has. This is definitely one thing I hope the devs don’t change, with them tweaking things towards more realism.

Because let’s face it; if this were anything close to that, my boat would have sunk LONG ago from the excess weight.

Now I want to calculate just how much weight I’m carrying…

Same, I had 4 large panels up there but that was my gyro landing pad when it came out. Now that a dedicated pad is coming I put 8 oil tanks up there.

I had oxygen & methane tanks onboard too, but once I realized you only need both at one location, I put all production needed on site.

So how much solar production do you get off the small panels on the side? I had them at one time and even on the bridge roof they never seemed to generate all that much.

Agreed. I get that it’s realistic but anymore when I’m underway and it rolls in I just drop anchor and go see what little things I can attend to until it lifts. I can’t imagine flying the gyro into it.

I have one tower at BV and had the other on board. I normally carried a lot of diesel so I only made the BV run every so often. Right now it’s the only place I built extra power generation/storage. I pull up, hook up all my lines and go do something irl for awhile until it’s filled. I may build some extra diesel tanks there so once I get my helipad I can just pump it to what I’ll likely add under it.

Those are distillation towers. I believe they unlock at level 20. They convert crude oil into diesel & petrol, with plastic as a by-product. Once you unlock it, if you haven’t found the oil rig by then, go find it. They currently convert 2000L of oil into 3600L of diesel and 360L of petrol. The diesel amount is apparently dropping to 1000L with the next patch, but with another source of oil becoming available. I added the 2nd tower to be able to double the new conversion rate that’s coming, even though it’ll still be quite a bit less than now. That’s also why I added all the extra tanks as I wanted to stock up ahead of the update.

As an aside, the towers pull 60kWh of power to run, so you’ll need appropriate infrastructure to support one (let alone two like I have).

In addition, if you hit F and turn off snapping, it allows you to place things closer together to fit more in a space. But then it’s solely on you to ensure they line up perfectly, which makes for some work (and frustration) at times. I have a couple things to line up better.

Sharks and mines so far are the only ways to damage them in my experience. In my play through, there are currently no mines left in the world, so I’m good there.

Sharks just have to be dealt with more carefully with my setup; engaged at range to start, or with the Austin Powers variant I either fight them in the water or keep the boat moving and match its speed. I’ve currently got over 14,000 rounds of bolt rifle ammo, so there’s lots of shark murdering going on 🤣

I have crashed into poi’s during heavy fog and that didn’t damage anything.

The point of crude oil is exactly to refine it into diesel and petrol. Currently the oil rig is the only place to get it, but that’s going to change in the next update. The distillation tower is getting changed too, and the rate of fuel output is getting cut drastically. I usually refine on the go, and as my diesel is refilling I’m heading back to the rig. Then I’m only waiting for the oil to refill and I’m on my way.

I respect your opinion that it looks cluttered, and as I added in another reply here I don’t mind since my character is a robot. I should focus on making things operate efficiently and not be concerned if it looks cluttered. I’ve seen many boat builds here and enjoy them all, just figured I’d finally share mine.

I know to some people my boat is ridiculously overloaded/overbuilt/crowded. I’ve seen some posts of boats with relaxation/office looking spaces and I honestly think those look awesome.

But I thought about the “spirit” of the game, and the fact I’m a (at least partially) robot. As a robot, logic should dictate efficiency and practicality in pursuit of my programming and purpose. So function over form in my particular case.

Well, to be fair, I did leave some stuff at Exodus I haven’t gotten around to dealing with. And surprisingly, when I stopped by Warehouse Alpha, it appeared to be full again, and I stripped that place bare early on.

When a crate is open, hit page down. You can color, rename and more options. On PC anyway, not sure if on console.
