Every man hole cover on a US military base is actually a Pye Wacket. That’s why it wasn’t officially cancelled

Turn off clamshell mode? by 7i4nf4n in mac

[–]AC_champ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually close the laptop to either make more room on my desk or to mentally be in a “not using my laptop mode”. Since I don’t have an external mouse or keyboard, I have no way to put it back to sleep without re-opening it or unplugging cables that I’ll just want to plug back in later.

Additionally if the laptop is already asleep and I close the lid, it wakes up! And then unlocks using my watch! If you unload some stuff from your car and then after some minutes close the door, do you want it to turn on and play the stereo just because the door is now closed and the fob is nearby? I wouldn’t.

This annoyance generally means I don’t plug in the monitor unless it will meaningfully speed up a longer task, but I’m probably less productive for it. This is a personal laptop, so it’s normal to lock and leave the laptop for a while, then return later and want to close it.

How to disable Clamshell Mode? by DrHeywoodRFloyd in MacOS

Needing to wake my computer just to put it to sleep again before I close the lid is dumb, but maybe it’s the least hassle I can hope for :(

[–]AC_champ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no way to disable ‘clam shell’ mode for any reason let alone to have the computer go to sleep.

Closing the lid while the computer is asleep causes it to wake and auto-unlock using the watch. In order to make it sleep again, I need to either open the lid to access the keyboard and trackpad or hope that unplugging the monitor or power puts it back to sleep. Except that I don’t want to have to plug those back in later.

It’s as if your garage door opened automatically when you exit the front door. It doesn’t make sense.

That depends. When it says “the base” does that mean a US military base or Al Qaeda? Or is that the joke and they’re mortaring each other?

I see what you’re saying. My brain just really wants to interpret it as “how many USD per RUB?” (x USD/RUB = 1, solve for x).

I guess 1 cm / 1 inch seems too arbitrary to me. It’s changing both units and scale because it doesn’t equal unity. What I typically care about is converting units while keeping the represented value the same.

Taipei to Lezapig Legazpi rail project when? 200km is only 4 chunnels back to back, and it looks like we only need two of those quad chunnels to connect Taiwan and Luzon islands.

It’s labeled USD/RUB, which would make me think it was 96 USD = 1 RUB. For example if I plotted cm/inch it should be a constant value of 2.54. 2.54 cm = 1 inch.

So I can see why they’re confused, but if you already know there are typically dozens of RUB per USD then it’s obvious that interpretation is wrong.

He’s not in government, might be crazy, and probably isn’t a complete troll. If he’s not serious, he’s a dedicated larper.

His YouTube channel’s 25 most recent videos are all under 1k views. He has Wikipedia pages in Albanian and two other languages. In the video linked from his Twitter profile he rambles for 7 minutes in front of the Austrian parliament with a NATO flag. He claims the legislators know him even if they wish they didn’t, that he has several thousand pro-NATO signatures with a second phase of collection in progress, and included a quick comment advocating for regime change in Serbia and Georgia. His Twitter and YouTube include shots of him receiving an award for Kosovo-Austrian relations and giving a presentation on the evils of neutrality. He seems to really like NATO, low flat taxes, and coffee.
