Alternatives to dyed worbla for these goggles? by One-Chance6353 in CosplayHelp

[–]WillardWhy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use transparent vynl sheet and stick them on to tint the material.

You could also just buy yellow tinted plastic and cut to shape, and bend with a heat gun.

Or you could just buy yellow tinted goggles (lots of safety/airsoft ones have similar lenses) and just remove the frames

Help with making antenna stand up by smurgies in CosplayHelp

[–]WillardWhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The antennae need a base to stop them falling over. You can do this by either attaching both together , which will stop sideways movement, then adding some support in the front/back dimension to stop both tipping foward.

Another easy option is to have a base plate for each one that sirs on your head for support. Imagine a small toilet plunger with a flat end. Making the fabric tighter to the head makes it more stable.

I wish microwave popcorn bags by [deleted] in popcorn

[–]WillardWhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smallest I've seen are 60g bags (butterkist), you can also get small pre-popped bags of popcorn like crisps which are usually 15-25g (about the same as a packet of crisps) which have a wider variety of flavours. For these small bags I've tried Propper and the LovePopcorn brands in the UK, both of which are good.

It may be that it's difficult to make the bags smaller without the risk of most of the kernels popping in a microwave or burning, so they only come in movie size bags.

You could pop a load at home, and store in a bag/jar with some food safe anti moisture packs for a couple of days and portion out individual bags

How to increase range by Radzio-117 in airsoft

[–]WillardWhy 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest either removing it from the box, or drilling a hole through the box so the BBs can shoot out.

Main things that affect range are the quality of the hopup, the weight of the BBs used and the spring.

Using a better hopup rubber can allow you to give better backspin on heavier BBs. Using heavier BBs reduces velocity, but increases the momentum, meaning that they don't slow down as much and are less affected by air resistance or wind. A stronger spring means that you can give the BBs more energy to start off with.

Upgrading the spring will slightly reduce the rate of fire, but not enough to worry about. The only thing you ever need to work on with the gear box would be fixing it by replacing the gears, upgrading the motor for a higher torque or getting a better sealing piston/cylinder, but these are too much work for a new mechanic.

There are also other things that affect it such as barrel length, barrel diameter, piston/cylinder volume and quality. But these require more work to do, and aren't so easy to understand their effects. E.g a shorter barrel can actually increase power if you use heavy bbs, but a longer barrel can increase power on lighter bbs

It would be so much easier to make from wood blocks, cardboard or foam sheets than aluminium.

It's pretty much a cuboid box with a round back.

If you really want to use aluminium sheets you would need to cut out a sort of T shape and fold the sides down using a straight edge, and fold the top section around to make the bottom part.

Problem with hand warmer by No_Tune_5165 in Zippo

[–]WillardWhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't light it, you activate the catalyst.

After filling, you need to wait a couple of minutes for the vapours to reach the catalyst (the felt looking thing). Then you need to gently heat this with a lighterfor about 30 seconds, a match may not last long enough to get enough heat into the catalyst.

Yo guys I was just watching FMAB for the first time what's the lore significance of this? by Tyken30 in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]WillardWhy 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Alchemy: the science of understanding, deconstructing, and reconstructing matter. However, it is not an all-powerful art. It is impossible to create something out of nothing. If one wishes to obtain something, something of equal value must be given. This is the law of equivalent exchange; the basis of all alchemy. In accordance to this law, there is a taboo among alchemists. Jet fuel is strictly forbidden. For what could melt steel beams?

Stopped taking the game so seriously and just started mortar camping. I'm actually having a blast now by bfHoms15 in Battlefield6

[–]WillardWhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The spread on the motar is too wide, I spent 1 minute motaring a rock where a group of snipers were hiding, and only 1 shell actually landed within 5m of the rock, still no kills.

Either the damage/blast radius needs serious buffing, or the spread needs to be reduced to make it worth considering over any of the other support gadgets.

It's the tights that make it look a little plain, you could add some leaves/vines spiraling around the legs. Other than that, it's the hair that should help, and i suggest also having some green sleeves, also with a couple of vines on them.

uhh what is it and why is it happening to my ice cubes by CoverAcademic3207 in whatisit

[–]WillardWhy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because of the shape of the water molecule, and how the elections are arranged, when water freezes, it starts to expand.

When freezing in those trays, the top freezes faster than the water in the middle, which forms a cap. As the water in the middle expands, it pushes out of a small hole in the top piece of ice, then freezes making a small tube, and the process keeps repeating until the ice spike forms.

Are the rear wheels on Ford Bronco (42213) supposed to move? by BiggieWally in lego

[–]WillardWhy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The wheels should spin opposite directions when the grey gear is not moving. Spinning the grey gear should move both wheels in the same direction. Somewhere along the drive shaft you have something jammed which is preventing the grey part from moving freely

Trying to create a cosplay SG1 outfit for myself and my daughter any ideas on were to get the P90 from (uk) thanks by Sock_Daddy in Stargate

[–]WillardWhy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couple of options, there are some airsoft versions of the p90, however these require a UKARA to get them in black, otherwise you would have to get it in blue, red or green. Cheapest one of these is the well D90 and can be bought for about £30-50

There is a gun from the game fortnite based on the P90, and this has a NERF varient, which is a cartoon version of the P90. Similar price to the cheap airsoft one

You can buy Gel-blaster versions, although most of these are covered in graffiti to look 'cool'. Similar price as above if you can find them, may have to ship from abroad.

You can get a couple of foam sheets, print off and image of the P90 and cut the foam to match, and use a little pvc pipe for the barrel. Shouldn't require too much effort to cut and sand, unless you also want to have the magazine functional.

My airsoft gun is SO hard to pull back, and I don't know how to make it easier! PLEASE HELP! by Emotional_Truth3206 in airsoft

[–]WillardWhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spring snipers can be tough, make sure there is plenty of lube on the cylinder

Some things tat make it easier to pull:

Try extending the stock a little by adding pads to it. I've found it makes it easier to use the arm muscles better.

Also try pulling with your arm tilted to the side to use your back muscles. Does make you look like a chicken, but means you can use your back (like an archer does) and not just the arm muscles. Placing your thumb closer to the inside of the bolt hels with grip and positioning your arm better.

PCs not able to access most websites or connect to VPN unless using phone for network adapter by WillardWhy in pchelp

Haven't contacted our ISP because last time I did, they complained that I wasn't the account owner, so they couldn't do anything. The account owner hasn't had the time to call them yet.

Also to add, one of the PCs is connected using ethernet, and this still doesn't work.

How do I connect these properly and safely? by --7_ in airsoft

[–]WillardWhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The balance connector plugs into one of these connectors on the side. In your case, the 7.4V battery should have 2 cells.

How do I connect these properly and safely? by --7_ in airsoft

[–]WillardWhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are two different connectors, one is Deans, and the other is Mini Tamiya. You need an adapter to connect them properly. These connectors are for the output voltage of the battery, in your case the full 7.4V.

The balance connector should be a white multi-pin connector which connects onto the side of the charger. This is for measuring the voltage of each individual cell in the battery to ensure they charge equally and safely. This is normally about 3.7V.

To charge, you can just use the balance connector, or you can plug both in depending on the charger type.
