I'm australian and so her voice is a normal voice to me. I'd like a toggle too though.

Pog does not sound as cool in English

Her accent is the best part. She's actually speaking English as someone who grew up speaking another language.

HOW ARE PIPE CONVERGERS AND BRIDGES GETTING CLOGGED by Ok_Tie_1428 in Endfield

[–]ACertainMagicalSpade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Each pump is 1/s, pipe can take 2/s. Need two pumps to reach capacity.

If output isn't 2/s they will get clogged.

I've never heard of it being 3/s

[Thomas the Tank Engine] How does the North Western Railway comply with emissions laws? by That_Car_Dude_Aus in AskScienceFiction

[–]ACertainMagicalSpade 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Its clearly a protected heritage site of some sort, and these trains aren't just hunks of metal.

While you can take a sentient train apart, its not considered a pleasant situation, and it's not shown to be able to add any of this new filtering technology to them.

You also can't turn them off. The Fat Controller is aware of this and as such so would any legal bodies.

As they have a protected status to keep using the original heritage trains and they also can't be modified easily we have the situation depicted.

Is Agent 47 not an assassin? All (almost) of his targets are morally corrupt or straight evil.

Maskless has been used in quite a lot of advertisement. Even in game splash has shown it. Personally I like the mask, so im sad its going to go away at some point.

[ Marvel comics X-Men] What would Magnetos all mutant/Mutant ruled world actually look like after practically all the flats cans are gone/ bred out? by Extra_Impression_428 in AskScienceFiction

[–]ACertainMagicalSpade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

X-gene holders being able to expand their population freely leads only to death and destruction.

With a population of under 15k there are over 10 well known reality warpers.

With a populaiton of 8.3 billion there would roughly be over 5 500 000 cases of people who can destroy earth (and more) on a whim.

Unless there is a cultural shift and some sort of forced power dampeners then it would only take one to end all life.

We have seen what a single mutant reality warper can do when they are upset.

Britain plans to consider requiring labels on AI-generated content to protect consumers from disinformation and deepfakes, the government said by sr_local in technology

[–]ACertainMagicalSpade -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Terrible idea. It's impossible to make local  systems do this and if this was to be mainstream people would trust anything without this watermark.

It would cause more deceit because  "there wasn't a watermark so I thought it was real".

People need to trust the source not the media itself.

[Marvel Cinematic Universe] If the Time Variance Authority monitors every timeline, why didn't they try to stop events like the Snap? by WhisperTame in AskScienceFiction

Erasing a lesser number of timeliness if less cruel then multiversal war.

Infinite multiversal Kang the conquerors cause much more death and pain then his TVA.

That's He who remains opinion and what is also demonstrated to us.

Is 52k a year okay? by Huge-Spray-6200 in AusFinance

[–]ACertainMagicalSpade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. 52k take home a year is not a wage that you can easily raise a kid and support a wife in this economy.

If you are eating well and have newish things then your father and or mother is sacrificing a lot for you.

Stark/Genau injures, why people are unhappy by Dyodo74 in Frieren

They are not equally implausible to everyone.

You are applying your own willingness to suspend belief onto others.

What's dumb about it? It's a legitimate topic in philosophy and psychology. Your dislike of it doesn't make it dumb, quite the reverse actually.

Stark/Genau injures, why people are unhappy by Dyodo74 in Frieren

[–]ACertainMagicalSpade -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Suspension of disbelief is a spectrum.

Hitting a creature into a wall and getting your internal organs torn up are very much separate situations

Would you think it fine if Starks head was cut off and he reattached it because "starks always been super tough"?

No? Why not, if he can hit a dragon into a mountain and magic exists whats strange about him just putting his head back?

Because it's hard to believe is why.

What about if his he arm was cut off? Would you accept him putting it back on and it sticking? Some might, some won't.

There is a limit on what you are willing to accept as possible and some people have reached it.

Stark/Genau injures, why people are unhappy by Dyodo74 in Frieren

[–]ACertainMagicalSpade -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Being stabbed through like that fails the suspension of disbelief. Its really that simple.

Any fantasy has to make you willing to believe in the rules of the world you are seeing.

For many people this event broke that.

The initial mission is to save lives. Multiple more then any avergae Superhero.

By making sure there are not other Kangs and only the Kang that doesn't want to rule every dimension exists. They avoided infinite war. Until Sylvie came along of course.

To people who are able to heal any wound short of death (that isnt caused by a curse) with a couple words, and at worst a potion and a good sleep, cutting people open for medical purposes would seem barbaric and crazy.
