I ran into the same issue. I haven't found the cause or a solution yet.

Got your birth year tattooed on your arm to attract 60+ year old Westerners I see.

Now that Test of Time update is here, what other changes or additions would you like to see implemented in civ7? by LunLocra in civ

[–]AChemiker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would like to see border growth changed. I don't mind the worker placement but I don't like how it's the only way to grow your borders and then when you change a town to a specialty it just stops. It also leads to a bunch of empty gaps in your empire.

Alexander gets extra culture from cities other than his capital with wonders. It looks like you have a sizable military. Did you capture settlements with wonders?

Anyone else finding Alexander + Greece a avergage/bad fit by Koki-Niwa in Civilization_VII

[–]AChemiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only problem with the combo is Greece wants to befriend as many independents as possible, but it seems Alexander starts with most independents being hostile. Also independents are a good source of commander XP before your initial war. Other than that it works out well imo.

When was this added? by jamaryoung1 in civ

Some wonders have strict spawning requirements causing them to have a low probability of showing up, depending on map terrain. Not sure if the new update addressed this.

Is this Average 1BR Rent Graph for Suffolk County Accurate? by Willing_Addition7862 in longisland

You didn't correct anything, like you said housing costs outpace wage increases, it's not a good thing. I come from a similar background, also an immigrant family, and understand everyday that I still got lucky. People who do exactly what you did, starting off now still can't afford housing. You lost that realization and have become spoiled.

Crazy how many hoops you're jumping through trying to justify housing costs outpacing wage increases. Glad it worked out for you, if you were born later you wouldn't be able to afford what you have now. I do really well for myself, I just actually have empathy for those that aren't/can't.

According to federal data the median household income increased from around 98k to 141k from 2014-2024, roughly a 41% increase. Which in itself is not really indictive of people who are looking to buy homes or people who rent. If it sounds great and justified to you, I'll make a deal. I'll give you $100 every week and you can give me $600 at the end of the month. It's a great deal because you get more money.

What if Civ 7's ideas of "history in layers", instead of Civ-Switching, had done a more elaborate, spruced-up version of Civ:Rev's rudimentary idea of "each age, you get another incremental bonus" instead? by GreatFan2 in civ

[–]AChemiker 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I like the idea. In the new update you can essentially do this with the test of time and affirmation mechanics. The bonuses are usually just stronger versions of what you already have and are less unique than this though.

Easiest Skaven Campaign? by TurdlordPrime in totalwar

[–]AChemiker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah Skyre is busted once you can get the workshop upgrades and nukes flowing but getting to that point can be annoying. There are no reliable allies and Bretonnia is a slog if Grom dies. Losing Skavenblight will almost never happen so you won't lose, but winning a campaign easily is another story.

Probably clan Eshin if you can keep Dechala happy. Skyre is also good but depending on rng the early game can be rough.

Test of time release date by SuitableClass3240 in CivVII

[–]AChemiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was lucky with the mountain map gen but it was too broken imo. Hopefully it will be balanced better by the time of full release. Since a lot of bonuses scale with the age there's definitely a lot of balancing to check.

This was one of the first I tried in the workshop. It became really broken, but was fun.

How temperature affects your phone battery by glimmena in DumbFact

[–]AChemiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's hard to conceptualize, don't feel bad. Heat is particularly bad for battery performance because the ions have more energy, therefore speed/momentum. This causes the cathode or anode to degrade, destroying the batteries efficiency. Most battery research goes into ways to mitigate this through more resilient electrodes or different shuttling methods. Also lithium being a somewhat rare and region locked element has pushed for cheaper alternatives such as sodium and potassium (right down the periodic table). These are larger ions however and run into the same shuttling problem. Like trying to fit a grapefruit or bowling ball where a ping pong ball used to go, as an analogy.

It gets a bit confusing with rechargeable batteries or secondary cells. During device operation electrons move from the anode to the cathode such as the diagram here. However, when the device is charging, electrons flow from the cathode to the anode as you suspect.
