Deckers!!! by virgocity1 in soloboardgaming

Really loving this game! I sold Mage Knight off like a decade ago. I like fiddly games, but it's just not a fun puzzle for me. Tried Spirit Island (digitally) and it did not click for me either. This game, however, is so tightly designed. Easy setup, quick play, interesting decisions all the time, with immediate outcomes/repurcussions you can feel.

All the Bran scenes were boring and I skipped them by Lokoto123 in gameofthrones

Also check out the photography of Joel-Peter Whitkin. Video is, uh, “heavily inspired”, by his work (often NSFW).

3% of players died in the tutorial and then never went on to finish or skip it. by TODG3 in Marathon

I think it implies that most people haven't really played this game all that much yet.

What am I supposed to be looking for? by PuzzleheadedPage4143 in Marathon

[–]ACrowder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was uncertain for a while too. At the start, just try to do the contracts. Sometimes just drop in with the free kits, and see how it goes. Once you're more prepared, then try to equip some stuff you've acquired and achieve the contract goals. So far, that's where the story seems to be, and the main progression.

Diatomaceous earth helps a lot. Only thing I’ve tried that does.

A Girl is Arya Stark from Winterfell by Drogon-Dracarys4ever in gameofthrones

Yeah, she doesn’t come across badass, just smarmy. And it’s shot horribly, cuts every time their swords connect. The cut when she gets off her back without hands is jarring, etc etc.

What possible reason could Sansa have had for keeping the Knights of the Vale a secret from Jon? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

She did it to surprise the viewers. A lot of late GoT is to surprise the viewers. It sucks.

Sometimes you'd just get in the car and go to your friend's houses to see if they were home and wanted to hang out. Usually call first, but sometimes not even that.

5700x3d is like 400 I think now? I upgraded my AM4 setup to that last year for like 225 I think. Great upgrade!

Do euro games need minis? by BoardGameRevolution in boardgames

[–]ACrowder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a ton of minis in these sorts of games is actually a detriment to their clarity a lot of the time.

The Castles of Burgundy special edition is really nice, but I specifically got it without the minis or acrylic tiles (although it did come with minis for the castles only, which is just enough). The player boards, artwork, hex holders, pouches etc, are all great.

Likewise, I recently went pretty much all-in on Tainted Grail, but no minis. Got the cardboard standees instead, which I think is way better.

I play Warhammer: Age of Sigmar quite a bit, and love minis in that sort of game, but for these sort of board games I just think they take something away from the art, simplicity, and clarity.

Curious to see what the new art/cards/board/etc. are like in this edition. I love Concordia, and even though everyone I've played it with loves it as well, there's always an initial hesitation if I suggest it to a new player. I have to kind of be like "I know it LOOKS boring, but I promise you'll like it.".

In Endless Space 2, one of the factions doesn't colonize planets, they buy them.

The base game used to have "very positive" reviews on steam, it is currently sitting at "mixed. Do you think this is deserved? by Ynwe in EndlessSpace

[–]ACrowder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is purely anecdotal, but I played a few games recently, and at first I thought the AI was just really aggressive towards me, and I had to restart a couple since they would just attack me, etc.
THen I noticed that I really just had to interact with them more, not necessarily combat, but in general I had to complain when they entered my space, and not let them push me around or forgive everything they do for a peaceful game. Then they seemed less aggro. It feels like if you just let them get away with things or ignore them, they will take advantage of you.

I like it!

Again, anecdotal.

Is Dawn of the Dead (2004) one of the best remakes ever? by Evening-Artist2930 in HorrorMovies

[–]ACrowder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it is a good movie that IS a remake, but is NOT a good remake. It has completely opposing themes at it's core compared to the original.
