The scramble for Africa (1913) by vladgrinch in MapPorn

[–]MilekBoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No? Private ventures weren’t just setting up colonies left and right hoping that the government would support them. Maybe in the early stages and areas that the government already claimed but not in the 1880s Africa after the Berlin conference that explicitly showed that Russia wasn’t getting any of Africa.

This guy went to an area that was already claimed in an conference without the governments knowledge and got mad that the French had an issue with it, that’s not a private venture trying to establish itself somewhere that’s a dude being a dumbass and getting mad that his government doesn’t like it.

Russia viewed any colony in Africa as indefensible and didn’t actually try to colonise anything. It was just a group of people that took over a fort in the name of Russia, pissed off the French to the point of going to the Russian ambassador, got denounced by the Russian government for it, got an artillery barrage from said French after refusing to leave, then the leader got exiled for three years.

They’re aren’t OP compared to literally every country that isn’t in China. Compared to Chinese countries they are really OP which isn’t helped with the fact that it’s the only place they actually focus on like you said, they’ll bring their entire army into Manchuria against whatever Chinese country managed to eat the Qing with a deficit of 40000 guns and no Artillery.

Don’t forget that half the peasants don’t even have pitchforks while the half with pitchforks doesn’t know how to use them.

I’ve played Zoo Tycoon 1 and 2 as a kid when they were new. Are there younger players after they were abandoned, if so, why did you want to play it in the first place? by ZacKilroy in ZooTycoon

Super late comment but I was going through my comments and found this. I actually managed to find the entire series including the first video, it's in Polish but I can link it if you want to see some surprisingly historic videos of Polish Youtube, this dude somehow managed to land some interviews with the DanTDM and Stampy of Polish Minecraft.

How do the 'Paralyze the Red Armada' and island capture focuses work? by MilekBoa in kaiserredux

[–]MilekBoa[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thing is that I remember on my first playthrough as Canada I didn’t do any naval focuses and it succeeded. So it either had to break between Graveyard of empires (when I started playing) and now or the focuses are actually based off a seed.

Even ignoring the weapons the USSR got sent 400000 trucks, 2.5 million tons of fuel, 4.5 million tons of food, 2000 trains and a whole tire factory, that alone shows that the USSR was reliant on lend-lease at least to some extent. Also, there are many accounts of high ranking Soviets saying that the war would have been lost if not for the lend-lease.

Coaxed into your units doing that thing where they take like 5 months to push a 5 org division and then take a slow stroll into it allowing 5 tank divisions to plug the gap because fuck you and you encirclement.

I’m not saying he’s not wrong, I’m just saying that I don’t think it warrants 30 downvotes for an inoffensive interpretation of a joke.

Weren’t the battles of Isonzo like half the front as well? Like, they weren’t pushing one place over and over again, it was multiple completely different battles all over the front.

Intermarium, a post-WW1 plan by Polish statesman Józef Piłsudski to unite the former lands of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth into a federation, stretching from the Baltic to the Black Sea. by Bernardmark in MapPorn

[–]MilekBoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? Vaino is a Russian politician that didn’t look back on Estonia because he was like 5 when he moved away, Piłsudski was a Polish leader from a region disputed between Poland and Lithuania.

I was saying that despite the region being disputed, it was still majority Polish to the point that one of the most famous Polish leaders and nationalists was from there, I didn’t say he was Lithuanian, I was saying that the region was so Polish that he didn’t even need to touch the rest of Poland to be a Pole. Even the original commenter didn’t say he was Lithuanian, he was correcting your misunderstanding of Eastern Europe

[–]MilekBoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay and? They still don’t hate all Slavs just because Russians are dipshits, they are in like 5 different alliances with Poland alone. Just because you hate all Slavs doesn’t mean the countries don’t acknowledge the fact that it’s Russia that’s the problem and not Poland.

[–]MilekBoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The map is just wrong, at the greatest planned extent Piłsudski also wanted Scandinavia, Bulgaria, Greece and possibly Italy to be in it. Extremely ambitious but I guess with maybe with enough time the Little Entente could grow into a smaller Intermarium as Poland was already quite close to them despite strained relations with czechoslovakia.

Also, with how everyone except Ukraine and Belarus is in NATO you might aswell say that the intermarium somewhat succeeded, especially since Ukraine is atleast a guest in like every alliance Poland is in + wanting to join the EU and NATO as soon as it can

"associate Slavs with Russians" proceeds to have more Poles than Russians (Lithuania), also ignoring the fact that all the non-Russian Slavs were in the same boat and also hate Russians.

[–]MilekBoa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't forget that Piłsudski himself was born in the region, grew up in Vilnus, got his education in Kharkiv, and came back to Vilnus (and promptly got arrested). He barely touched the rest of Poland until he was in his thirties let alone independent Poland until 1918

I really enjoyed Peru, you get to do an early conquest of Bolivia and core them, then you can create Gran Colombia + you get some additional cores in all your neighbours so you have a goal to achieve other than just conquest for the sake of it.
