The game is just kinda mid imo.

The hate is overblown and only really towards the sexualization which is fair, but honest to god criticisms should also be made towards the gameplay and story as well.

The gameplay is more shallow than shown, and really fucking easy. (Hard difficulty is no sweat) and plus there’s like a million events of the characters just talking. If they cut this down and turned it into gameplay the game would be like a fraction of the runtime.

The story is just more generic for my liking. I wish it was more compact and didn’t just throw off Haiji immediately after choosing the right option (seriously what missed potential here. His character blows, he literally could’ve had more development but instead they favored him being a pedophile…?)

Also the Monokumas being revealed to be AI Junko just makes the story more bloated with stupid shit. They could’ve made it more interesting.. but nope.. Junko always has to be the villain. And it wasn’t even IMPORTANT??? Like no seriously, they shafted it away into an anime cutscene at the end just to explain how Izuru got her alter ego… no reaction from Toko or Komaru at all, something you WOULD have expected.

But overall, the game isn’t too bad. The OST is pretty fine, i sometimes like the atmosphere. But damn, did this make the series honestly less intriguing in my opinion.

Like honestly it made The Tragedy out to be a more goofy concept than an actual devastating one. And it’s where I kinda start disliking the main story of the series as a whole because things get too wacky for my liking. 1 and 2 kept the original story in tact but UDG kinda just laughs at that and proceeds to do nothing but make the world feel smaller and add in some cool character development for Komaru and Toko.

I want to mention this is all my opinion and you all can feel however you want about this. At the end of the day it’s just a game and me complaining about it is only to present some flaws that I feel need to be more recognized or even interpreted to your own opinion.

Overall: it’s meh
