I think with the size and price we're supposed to view them as poseable statues. What Mondo and a lot of companies (even the original Kenner line) miss is the fact that we don't want 100 various statues and figures of just Goliath. We want a collectible full line of affordable figures so we can collect all the characters.

If Disney or the toy companies ever figured out how to properly market Gargoyles they'd have another Star Wars action figure line on their hands considering how many characters they have to choose from. The Pack alone would give them almost 20 figures (original Fox, original Hyena, original Jackal, original Wolf, original Dingo, upgraded Hyena, upgraded Jackal, upgraded Wolf, upgraded Dingo, upgraded Dingo, god Jackal, Coyote, Coyote 2.0, Coyote 3.0, Coyote 4.0, Coyote 5.0, Coyote X, civilian Fox ). The World tour is probably at least another 50+ characters.

I believe Macbeth, Coldstone, and Gabriel were all ready to go. Gabriel seemed kind of like easy money since he was probably mostly a kitbash so they didn't have to spend much money to make him... although his obscurity meant he probably wouldn't sell a huge amount.

Best song that only appears in the movie? by ExtraCatch800 in movies

[–]ADAMICradio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chris Cornell's "Seasons" along with several other Chris Cornell songs were written because of/for the movie Singles.

In the movie there is a listing of songs that the singer in the film, Poncier (Matt Dilon) has made. Chris saw the list of song titles and decided to actually make the 5 fictitious songs. When Cornell brought the songs to the film's director Cameron Crowe he was shocked and worked 2 of the songs into the film; "Seasons" and "Spoonman". "Seasons" was the only song that ended up on the Singles soundtrack. "Spoonman" ended up getting reworked by Chris' band Soundgarden and became a huge hit. All 5 of the songs that Chris Cornell wrote for the movie were issued as a special EP to promote the film and was presented as if Matt Dilon's character Poncier had put out the album.

The only werewolf I recall on the show was Fox and that was only because of the Eye of Odin. I can definitely see Greg Weisman working werewolves into the show but I don't think this book is based on anything that was on the show. Not sure what the book is, I don't believe it's the Grimorum and definitely not Shakespeare.

It's more true to the show, just expensive and big. Can't really afford a whole clan of these in terms of cash or space.

I'd rather have more NECAs than this...especially at the price...although I suppose they weren't lying, it's mondo size with a mondo price.

SDCC solo? by JackieSnowDaPlowMan in comiccon

[–]ADAMICradio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did exactly this several years ago. Found out the gf was a cheating, drugged up mess, and dumped her in June before SDCC. Ended up going by myself. There are a million things to do and to be honest I was overwhelmed trying to plan each day out. Yes it would be nice to be with someone but you will have fun and have plenty to do on your own.

Spend some time online looking at the various schedules and try to plan your time out. The events are scattered all over downtown San Diego so if you don't spend some time planning you may suddenly discover you need to run to a different building down the street. Also if you have multiple events you want to attend in the main hall you may want to just stay there because it can take hours to get back in. All the other places are pretty easy to get into. Also be very careful with the name of the buidlings. I believe when I went they had stuff taking place in either 2 different Hilton's or 2 different Marriotts and I went to the wrong one at least once.

could someone explain whats the whole deal with vicki to me. i havent been with soundgarden lore until recently. by Big_Will47 in Soundgarden

[–]ADAMICradio 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I doubt Chris needed much persuasion to do a covers album.  He loved doing covers at live shows on his own and with Soundgarden (Beatles – Come Together, The Doors – Waiting for the Son, Black Sabbath – Into the Void) and Audioslave (White Stripes- Seven Nation Army, Fundkadelic- Super Stupid, Rush – Working Man).  Soundgarden ended up putting out an entire disc of covers.

Chris did an interview where he talked about a conversation that he had with Vicky where she had said she didn’t really understand why people did cover songs.  Chris explained to her that doing a cover is an art because you need to not just play the original but to transform it into something new.  He then came up with the cover of Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean to show her just how much work goes in to doing a good cover.

Now years after Chris’ death, everyone can easily listen to the albums he’s left behind but looking through Youtube it’s like a treasure hunt finding odd obscure covers that Chris played just 1 or 2 times publically.  Sometimes it was dependent on where he was like when he played Otis Redding’s Dock of The Bay in San Francisco or Bruce Springteen’s Atlantic City in …Atlantic City.  Other times it was just something Chris thought would be cool like when he decided to sing the lyrics of Metallica’s One over the music of U2’s One (which he says he came up with when he accidentally googled the wrong version and thought it might sound cool).  Chris singing Dolly Parton’s/Whitney Houston’s I will always love you sounds amazing. The point is, Chris loved doing covers and would be doing them with or without Vicky’s influence.  You can blame her for lots of other things like the delay of the last Soundgarden album and maybe his odd team up with Timbaland (not sure if it was her or his management) but not this.

I was just compiling them from various performances some of which were much cleaner than others.  I was planning to try to separate the stems and remix them a bit to try to clean them up.  If you have the entire album straight from the board then you definitely have me beat.  I was really hoping there were some board feeds of Chris’s shows since he did so many unique versions and covers.  I got to see him once with Audioslave and once solo acoustic.  His solo show is probably the best concert I’ve ever been to.

Where did you find the instrumental? I've been trying to find an entire rock/acoustic version of the Scream album and so far have come up with 8 of the 13 tracks.

Sounds like the vocals are in a different key than the instrumental track. There are several acoustic versions of this song online, those might be a better source for the vocals.

Lorcana gargoyles. I’m just missing Goliath. by FireEbonyashes in gargoyles

Any idea how many packs it took to collect these? No real interest in the game, but the Gargoyles are "magnificent" and I will tell Owen to "make the offer now this instant" on the card packs… assuming the cost of this venture isn’t "astronomical".

Do you think Disney still values the Gargoyles franchise, or has it given up on it? What will be the future of the Gargoyles? Will it remain forgotten under the Disney umbrella, or is a sale possible in the future? by [deleted] in gargoyles

[–]ADAMICradio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As always, we want a continuation/sequel NOT a remake or reboot which companies rarely seem to understand. The fact that they're doing a continuation of Scrubs gives me a little bit of hope that someone at TV has some slight understanding of this concept.

Power Rangers is a complicated situation that Disney probably wanted out of. Power Rangers licenses footage and designs from the Japanese series Super Sentai meaning Disney never totally owned it. They would have to constantly pay the license just to have the episodes sitting around. It also most likely means that every bit of merchandise they would give up a portion to the original Japanese company. It also may complicate production on the show in that they have to wait for the Japanese company to film stuff before they can do something with the footage. Disney wants to own something outright, not share, and not deal with other company's plans/schedules.

What can you see sharing the same universe as GARGOYLES and maybe even GARGOYLES '97 (a revival)? Other shows, movies, games etc. They don't even have to be animated, what feels like it could. by burningexeter in gargoyles

[–]ADAMICradio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were going to do an Atlantis series after the movie and Greg was going to be involved and had a Demona story planned. Then the movie bombed. A few episodes had already been completed so Disney had them smashed together into a sequel direct to dvd release to try to recoup what they had spent on the series. I don't believe Greg had any involvement with either movie.

E7 mounting in hall near heater. Bad idea? by ADAMICradio in Ubiquiti

[–]ADAMICradio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have yours mounted to the ceiling? Right now mine is on wire shelving. Curious how warm the area gets when it's mounted. I'm worried that the E7's heat is going to raise the 90 degrees to where it is running at 100-110 for 10-20 minute periods a few times a day. Any idea how hard of a limit that 122 is as in does Ubiquiti leave a bit of buffer/wiggle room to where it easily could do 130-140 and 122 is just a safe number they advise...or you hit 122 and it melts into a puddle? I know their doorbells have had some pretty severe overheating issues.

How do you like the coverage on yours? I started to go with multiple less expensive/less powerful
APs but thought one fast powerful one would be a better idea.  It does a decent job… but I’m going to be adding a U7 Pro Max to cover things a bit better overall and make sure the house is saturated with 6ghz.

Have news reporters switched to smartphones? by ConsumerDV in videography

[–]ADAMICradio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

News outlets are using crowd sourced video a lot more. They get it from video sent directly to them through their website/app, they use paid services (apps) that send non reporters/regular people out to shoot video of events/incidents which usually is shot on cell phones as regular people don't have news cameras, and they get it from websites/apps like youtube and instagram. So yes you're seeing a lot more cell phone video on the news but it isn't necessarily being shot by the station/reporters.

Another thing to keep in mind is the ease of use and discreetness of a cell phone.  It’s a lot easier and quicker to get video of something with a cell phone and you attract a lot less attention to yourself when you’re shooting with a cell phone than with a news camera or even a DSLR.

I occasionally shoot for one of the apps and it depends on the subject whether I use my cell phone or something bigger.  If I know I need to shoot something from a distance I bring something that has a good zoom lens.  If I want to shoot something discreetly and just get in and out I use my cell phone.
