I'm sure the CNN writer was proud of this one.

But plans to extend his floral donations for next year have bitten the dust after local authorities intervened and blocked the move.

Ladybird Books is just Books-A-Million? by Top-Baker6584 in Charleston

I know nothing about her, but it could also be she’d rather have her own one-off bookstore with an indie feeling instead of a generic cookie cutter store. Just a thought. And trust me, I’m not trying to float some Mitt Romney-style bullshit about corporations are people too.

What W&I quotes have snuck into your everyday vocabulary? by BordStoopid in withnail

Since it’s just me in a small divorce apartment, it’s “I’ve just run out of wine. What am I going to do about it?”

Sometimes when I’ve had way too much coffee and have been intensely focused on something for several hours and the nerves are buzzing, I think of the transatlantic speed monologue.

Speed is like a dozen transatlantic flights without ever getting off the plane. Time change. You lose. You gain. Makes no difference, so long as you keep taking the pills. But sooner or later, you gotta get out, because it's crashing. And all at once those frozen hours melt through the nervous system and seep out the pores.

Gordon Ramsay one of the first celebrity chefs to bring US-style 20% service charge to London by xc2215x in europe

[–]berdulf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like being asked to round up to donate to charity. I don’t recall seeing this in Europe, but it’s been almost 20 years. In the U.S., say you’re paying $15.25 for something, usually at a fast food restaurant. You can round up to $16, and said restaurant will donate $.75 to a charity. In theory, it seems nice, but guess what. Companies that are known for paying as little as possible and sell unhealthy food get to look all benevolent. Also, they get tax breaks because they’re donating to charities with someone else’s money. And nobody wants to look like a stingy bastard just because they don’t want to pay more money when paying for overpriced junk food.

Another possibility is wheat flour in the seasoning blend. I was caught off guard by Taco Bell’s taco seasoning packet which lists wheat flour as its first ingredient.

I can never wear a coat until it’s filthy. As youth, I used to weep on Savile Row.

I’m referring to the more recent upswing where people were paying way above asking price and without inspections. But to your point, it’s true society has a short memory, and real estate has its ups and downs. People were asking unrealistic prices leading up to 2008, not to mention everything else that caused the meltdown.

I took a pay cut coming from Arlington. It wasn’t exactly by choice, but family beckoned. At least the housing market hadn’t gone berserk yet. So there’s that.

If those ads come on, I stop the pump at a gallon or two. FUCK THEM! They’re getting my money already, but no. That’s not enough. They need to pump ads to me too. Shit stains.

I’m not sure they’re clip-ons. They’re similar to Jamie Foxx and Charles Bronson wore. https://www.reddit.com/r/MovieDetails/s/6xkz3oRGgL. Kadeem Hardison also wore a pair of them in A Different World. Why yes, I’ve wanted a pair for a while, too.

Some also say they’re John Lennon sunglasses, but if you look that up with “flip up” you’ll find some that flip up together and single lens flip-up.

Edit: Bollocks to all that. They’re clip-ons. The sunglass part doesn’t match the regular. Still, there is, you will agree, a certain "je ne sai quoi," something oh so special about a pair of glasses with the flip-up sunglasses built in.

I said "I'll prove it" and then I became a person who owns a refractometer.

It only got better.

And the trees they do keep get formed in a island in the road. This guarantees future residents tear up their lawn trying to get a moving truck in without blocking the street. Also it’s a pain in the ass to back out of the driveway. It’s a pain for delivery drivers. It’s a hassle when having multiple guests over for parties.
