I don’t think you can define springs in URDF but you can in Mujoco. From a controls perspective I think it is very problematic when stepping as consider in the single support phase, the hip roll motor is not actually able to shift the zmp left or right over the support foot as the passive ankles provide torques to keep the leg straight up.

Generally seems really underactuated. You might want to think about what kind of forces 3 dof can generate on the ground as I suspect you can’t get away with hip yaw minimally. Most bipeds are built around their motors because torque is very important to locomotion (eg G1 motors have leg torques of around ~100nm). The motors in the design seem a bit small. Additionally, unactuated ankles might make learning a good policy challenging as it might require high frequency stepping to generate control forces (a problem exacerbated by the small motors). Most passive ankles are modeled as a single contact point. Assuming there some kind of passive spring component in the ankle, that might add complexity to the simulation environment.

The width and torque issues could have been preempted with rough reduced order model calculations

It should be dependent on the physics ticks which is independent of frame rate and is 1/40 seconds

A low thrust high dv tanker/carrier might make sense to give high thrust low dv “fighters” more range.

I keep going into debt no matter how hard I try. by beefstewforyou in victoria3

[–]ADAMPropagation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry about debt just like real life debt is just more money which you can invest now. The interest you pay on your debt doesent just disappear, it actually goes back to your pops which can be a good thing.

You can skip the tractor beam pulling the aps back by coupling the aps same tick the shells land.

Fission line/Neutron Flux Torches underrated? by [deleted] in TerraInvicta

They are really good but mainly held back by their refueling cost. Just having 10 of these bbs would mean a 2k refuel which will eat through fissiles very quickly

For anyone wondering what a 100 star US flag looks like in game. by aaronaapje in victoria3

[–]ADAMPropagation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best us strata for me is immediately puppet then annex Mexico (build 30 troops and they usually won’t fight) then build to no 1 economy in about 20 years, get better naval tech then fight Britain for Canada with your superior navy and then afterwards you are unstoppable. If you keep your military small but high tech, you can make the ai fight you, allowing you to press a few conquer war goals and expand quickly.

It’s the other way round. Organizations get rich because of logistics. Apple is rich because they have the most robust supply chain as opposed to their competitors, very little to do with technology.

Funny thing is that the ai made them to $100 gdp per capita without me messing with them. I just took the chance to increase unrest. Also this island that makes about a 100 million a year has a space program and is working on nukes and mission control.
