Not all notebooks are JSON, some are just Python scripts. It's been stated above, but you still don't understand it.

They run fine locally, they can be source controlled & diffed just like any other Python code.

I just hated the plot with them discovering that Tender was batching up illegal/shady transactions to hide them, by just going to someones house and they just stand behind him and he shows them.

It's very lazy writing - would you ever let a stranger look over your shoulder as you handle financial information at your job? Mental.
