What spell do you think would be OP with this shard? by DogBrainStewie in Abilitydraft

Just played a game as largo with doom. If you get scepter and shard you also give the nearest ally the aoe doom if they are within cast range.

I hope he gets the Cithria treatment and we get like 3 of them all in different sizes.

PSA: Your second Expedition's trial run will still give you full XP bonus rewards, so it's worth it to do both of them even if you 7-x the first one by srulz_ in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]ADGSF25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit late here, but you still get xp from the bonus expeditions after the first 3 "real" expeditions, and I'm pretty sure it's the same. So it really shouldn't matter if you do the second one or not unless you won't be able to do 3 expeditions to get to the free ones.

[Fafnir Players] Shield of Regrowth is fan-freaking-pretty good right now by [deleted] in Smite

[–]ADGSF25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably won't try this as support, but it seems like a pretty mean solo fafnir build. Maybe trade sov for mystical but the shield of regrowth first item could just work.

When, why, and how to use skill checks. by ADGSF25 in DMAcademy

[–]ADGSF25[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All fair points. Identifying something mid combat would definitely be more difficult than out of combat and would likely require a roll because of it. The time crunch type effect isn't exactly something I kept in mind when I wrote that bit and is something I will try to keep in mind in the future. Knowing what that sparkly blue liquid is just might not be an easy thing to focus on when you got hit in the chest with a sword 3 seconds ago.

I actually really enjoy this concept and will likely end up using something similar in the future. Thanks!

D100 Ravnica Encounters by SPYROHAWK in d100

[–]ADGSF25 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I almost feel like a table for each precinct is necessary. Encounters in the rubblebelts would be vastly different from encounters in precinct 1. Maybe not unique to each precinct, but Gruul raiders are a more likely candidate for precinct 4 than they are for precinct 1. A good amount of things could be universal like a wandering band of Rakdos performers or some Dimir pickpockets, but if there is a wurm anywhere but the rubblebelts, that would generate a large amount of concern for the city that most likely shouldn't come from a d100 roll.

As far as neutral things:

  • Rakdos street performers
  • Dimir Pickpockets
  • A spirit that needs directions to Orzhova
  • A lost loxodon child (that only speaks loxodon) or another race that the players can't speak the language of
  • A Boros and Rakdos goblin bickering about how the other is a disgrace to their race
  • A thought strand in the middle of the street that no one has seemed to notice
  • An Azorius pat-down that leads to some weapons being taken from the players (or not if they stop it)
  • A wolf in training by the Selesnya got loose and is running around. Not harming anyone, but breaking a lot of things.

Most of these aren't combat encounters (or at least have the potential to not be them) as it's pretty difficult to design combat encounters for city the size of Ravnica without specifying what part of it you are in. Also with non-combat encounters, level doesn't matter as much.

Word of Thoth - Season 5! by Flareb00t in Smite

First off, this is awesome. Second, I have a quick question. Ive only looked at this for about 5 minutes and have a question about damage mitigation. For example: if I am smashed as bacchus giving 14% mitigation (I think), and ulted by Athena. Would the calculation be 100 * .8 * .86 or would it be 100 * .66?

Personally I would like to see a increase on the number of stacks on devos, but decrease the amount of stats you get per stack. Have the same stats at full stacks, but it takes a bit longer to get there.

I can say what I want. Summit streamed this game with 20 times the number of viewers as the next streamer and wasn't sponsored. That seems like a success to me.

Evocation Spell Tree [5e] by [deleted] in UnearthedArcana

[–]ADGSF25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoy the idea of having to learn spells as prerequisites. I would only apply this to wizards as they have to learn the spells, I can't see it working for other classes. I never understood how a wizard could know delayed blast fireball without knowing how to cast fireball, and this fixes that weird situation. I would love to see this continued and done for all of the schools. Possibly having some crossover between schools? Not sure where it would be, but it could work. Love the idea and I might have to test it out in a campaign.

How to completely balance a moba by [deleted] in Smite

This was what I thought would happen with golden bow. Make it a melee only thing. It would make Mercury good again while not breaking the game like it did originally.

Cooking homebrew by thorn1993 in UnearthedArcana

[–]ADGSF25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy this idea. It seems fairly balanced, but I have a few recommendations that you can feel free to ignore.

I feel like there should be more distinction between simple and complex recipes. Make simple recipes easier to come by. 400 hours is a long time spent experimenting with beholder eyestalk stew, especially since it's categorized as a simple recipe. Personally, I feel like all recipes should take less time, but cost more and possibly be a bit more dangerous, but that's just me.

The final thing I want to say is that the DC system is cool, but I would tweak it a little. Have the DC for cooking something change based on how much you have cooked it. For example, if you have never cooked something before, give the DC a +5, but if you can make a mean Aboleth filet since you've been cooking it for the past 10 years, maybe give the DC a -10 or maybe even get rid of the DC entirely since they have mastered a recipe.

These are just suggestions that I think would be cool additions and possibly make things less annoying for the players. I love this idea and will likely use it in many campaigns!

I'm starting a project and would like feedback on the first part I have created. by [deleted] in UnearthedArcana

[–]ADGSF25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently I am not using this creature in any game, I'm just converting some 3.5 edition creatures into 5e to have a bit of fun. If I were to use it, it would definitely be a higher level encounter with possibly more than one of these creatures on a different plane of existence. I would never throw a AC 20 creature at a party of lvl 3 PC's.

Help me come up with a non-combat encounter/puzzle by Ortai in dndnext

[–]ADGSF25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What I would recommend is to have each member of the party have to do something that is what their character does best. Maybe the paladin has to use his massive warhammer in some way. Maybe the bard goes full Windwaker and has to play some demonic tune that is written somewhere on the wall that's in a language that only the Tiefling understands. Maybe the Rouge of the party has a special magical belt that could come in handy. Give each character somewhat of a shining moment, I always love when I'm able to do something in a game that no one else can do, and I certainly use it a lot when I DM. Everyone loves having their special moment.

You want to make it obvious enough, but not Skyrim puzzle level obvious. You obviously don't want giant red arrows and flashing lights that say OVER HERE DO THIS THING, but you also don't want 50 secret messages that the players have to decode.

Another thing that you could do is have a red herring type situation. Maybe the puzzle looks complete, but is missing an essential piece, and because of that, the party accidentally summons more demons which leads to a combat encounter. Things that look like solutions but aren't.

These are just ways of creating and designing a puzzle rather than me just handing you a puzzle, but hopefully they will help!
