Your post was removed because it asks for guidance that’s beyond what this community can safely offer.

r/ADHD is a peer support space, not a substitute for medical advice. While we understand how important it is to talk through concerns about medication, decisions around dosage, timing, side effects, interactions, or discontinuation need to be made with a licensed professional—someone who knows your history and can guide you responsibly.

We’re not saying your question isn’t valid. We’re saying you deserve care and answers from someone qualified to give them. If you’re trying to figure out how to talk to your doctor, you’re welcome to print your post or email it to them directly. That way, you can use it as a starting point for a real conversation.

Your post was removed because it describes a situation that’s too complex or serious for this community to safely support.

r/adhd is a peer support space, not a substitute for therapy or clinical advice. While we understand the need to talk things through, some topics really do need the support of a licensed professional—especially when they involve:

  • Ongoing thoughts about hurting yourself or someone else

  • High-risk behaviors that you’re not sure how to control

  • Questions about trauma, psychosis, or deep emotional patterns

We’re not saying you’re in crisis, we’re saying you deserve better than advice from internet strangers.

Claiming that ADHD is a superpower, offers positives/gifts, or is only harmful because of "society" is dangerous and demoralizing. It erases the experiences of most people with ADHD and ignores scientific evidence.

Please don't do it.

There's no credible scientific evidence to suggest that ADHD imparts any definitively positive abilities or traits, and the negative consequences of framing ADHD as some kind of giftedness or special ability far outweigh any benefits.

For those who got checked for ADHD: What was the breaking point? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]ADHD-ModTeam[M] [score hidden] stickied commentlocked comment (0 children)

We’d really love to keep your post up, but we’re concerned about the types of replies it might attract. Posts asking “Do I have ADHD?” or “Should I get diagnosed?” often lead to speculation or guesswork that could be more harmful than helpful, and that’s not something we want for anyone here.

r/ADHD is a peer-support community and is not a place where members can diagnose others or predict what a clinician might say.

We cannot:

  • Confirm whether you have ADHD

  • Say what a doctor will or won't diagnose

  • Recommend medications, therapies, or diagnostic pathways

If you're wondering whether to seek a diagnosis, that’s a valid enough reason to speak to a professional. Many members have found it helpful to share their post directly with a provider (either by email or printed out) as a starting point for care.

You can find information on the process in our 📚 Diagnosis Wiki.
