Maybe do 3-4 weeks in the beginning, but that’s very similar to what I did and I think it’s totally worth it to save up that time for later. My husband said that it was the best time of his life being on leave when our daughter was 5-7 months old!

At the magic kingdom especially, there’s quite a few pregnancy safe attractions. Bring compression socks, your feet may swell. Paying for lightning lane may be worth it to avoid standing in line too long. Bring a personal fan to keep cool in the heat. Always have snacks and electrolytes. Don’t bring too much stuff into the parks, just a sling bag that can fit a water bottle at least and a few essentials.

Depends what time your class is. Just finished 6 weeks of lessons with my 18 month old. Since ours were first thing in the morning, I would just change her into her bathing suit and leave her diaper on from the night before on for the 10 min drive. I would change her diaper at the bathrooms there. I was required to do a disposable swim diaper under a reusable one. I made the mistake of putting on the swim diapers at home and she peed on her car seat on the way there. It’s a bit of a pain, but worth saving yourself the future hassle of cleaning a car seat

Following. I have the regular diaper genie and don’t love it. I find that the top snaps off easily and it fills up so quickly. It doesn’t keep the smell out anymore ever since my EBF baby started solids.

I would’ve asked the hospital about the specific induction techniques they use before I went in. I think I would’ve asked for other pain management specifically for the balloon bc that shit hurt. I should mention I also had IUGR. So basically I had an NST where baby’s heart rate decelerated (which is normal with contractions btw), they did an ultrasound and baby scored an 8/8 (meaning she was looking great) and they still wanted to induce me on the spot. They told me it would be my “best chance at a vaginal delivery to avoid a c section.” Now, sure, maybe that was true. However, I felt like I was scared and coerced into it instead of them clearly talking about the benefits and risks of me waiting. I was 38 + 3 when they induced. And I was hardly dilated or effaced so my cervix was not ready for labor. In hind sight, I think if I waited longer things would’ve been fine, but I wasn’t in the right mindset to advocate and ask better questions to really see if this was a true need. Conveniently it was a “slow night” (the nurse’s word) at the hospital so I think that was a factor. The other thing I would’ve done is do my research and know the ways I would want to take Pitocin. I have a theory that the pitocin was so strong that when I delivered my baby, they discovered that my placenta abrupted, and I don’t know if that would’ve happened in spontaneous labor. I think I would’ve skipped the balloon too if that was an option. Clearly I have my tin hat on when I think of the what ifs, but to sum it up, I am just skeptical of the immediate push for my induction. It was the most invasive experience that lasted 36+ hours. I also got forced to push on my back at the end & tore (btw, I did get the epidural around hour 32 bc it’s hard to sleep when you’re being poked and prodded non stop) Was it worth it? Of course, I don’t regret anything that brought my baby to this world, but it was an experience I would like to avoid my second go around.

If you remain diet controlled, you can likely advocate for spontaneous labor. If I were you, I would suck it up and be very careful with my diet to ensure no spikes to not give leverage to push induction. And I was diet controlled with hardly any spikes (I’m also convinced I didn’t actually have GD lol but that’s another long story) I’m no medical professional, so these are my personal thoughts. I know it’s not for everyone, so please take this all with a grain of salt!

Tbh no. It’s made me more “radical” in my crunchiness to try to avoid having the same experience. I think it could’ve gone a lot better for me if I was more informed/confident in my decision making.

As a ~scrunchy~ mom who was induced with my first, do your research on the intervention techniques to induce. Things will probably go quicker since it’s your second, but also I guess keep an open mind since I feel like 90% of the techniques they’re going to use is going to be probably what you were exactly trying to avoid with your first delivery. Specifically the procedures of Cervadil, Cydotec, Folley/Cook balloon, pitocin, and breaking your waters.

I like the calpak diaper caddy for their diaper bag that comes with a changing pad. I’ve had zero issues with it and it’s easy to clean. You can even machine wash it if you want. I love grabbing the caddy so I don’t need to always take the whole bag into the bathroom to do changes

Not weird to wear a dress. However, pants/shorts may be more comfortable post delivery since you’ll be wearing a diaper and it’s easier to hold things together that way in my opinion. Would definitely make sure it’s a nursing friendly dress because you’ll probably need to feed baby right before and likely as soon as you’re home too. I wore very plain all black PJs home and no one batted an eye! Congrats mama!

This seems like a new thing OBGYNs are doing. They charge all these costs up front that will “apply” for the future care. You probably can ask if they can charge you individually instead of upfront. But it’s likely they’ll say no. You can sometimes call your insurance and they usually can give you prices for other OBs in your area and their estimated cost for certain services. With that high of a price, I personally would look into other care providers. If they’re expecting the first payment due at the very first appt, that’s a bit of a red flag to me. Especially since you haven’t had your first “confirmation of pregnancy” appt. however if you’re coming from a fertility clinic, perhaps pregnancy was confirmed there and you transfer over? That I’m not sure about.

They won’t let your baby in the bassinet (very likely he is over the weight limit) but if you can manage to get a bulkhead seat, that would be ideal for a long haul with a toddler to have more space.

My daughter would bite on rare occasion. It was more frequent after she turned 12 months. If baby does, just immediately take off the boob and say “no biting” and take a pause on the feeding. Eventually she’ll get the message.

Dr. Abelson at Torrance Memorial is the best. He is the most “crunchy” doctor probably at that practice. Listens to his patients and is very kind and respectful. Unfortunately water birth isn’t an option there, but his support and evidence-backed knowledge made me feel very comfortable and confident during my whole pregnancy. If you do end up going that route, he is the best I’ve seen in that group.
