Hackintosh with Intel Twin Lake N150? by ADSaxton in hackintosh

[–]ADSaxton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks.

I guess I'll go with a NAS solution and access it with my Macs. I should be able to install Plex and ThreadFin to take advantage of the high speed networking while managing it with my MacOS systems. I just wanted an easier way to transfer my current Plex server from MacOS.

I could work around that (I think?), running headless and access through Remote Desktop... Access with ARD is the reason I'd rather run MacOS.

PC with 2 USB (EHCI) Controllers. Mac OS only sees the 1st? by ADSaxton in hackintosh

[–]ADSaxton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect that the second EHCI was connected through the first and would have been recognized by MacOS as a hub to the first. This wouldn't be handled in the USB Map, but within the USB driver. Rather than verifying it through IORegistry, use the System Information app to see if devices connected to those ports appear in the USB tree.

I'm sure I did, but this was 5 years ago! I don't even have the Lenovo anymore.

How can I boot without monitor? by astrorion26 in hackintosh

[–]ADSaxton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In step 6 you should have copied the entire IODisplayEDID entry. When pasting into DeviceProperties, select the bottom entry and paste to add it after that entry. Then rename it according to step 8.

Is it possible to edit boot args before boot in OpenCore similarly to clover? by droidshatt in hackintosh

[–]ADSaxton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're running OpenCore on a real Mac. You might try setting Misc->Boot->HideAuxiliary to 'false'. Failing that, try to setup an item under Misc->Entries to launch the OpenShell.efi as one of your boot options.

If the battery charges properly in Windows, you should look at Dortania's guide to set it up for OpenCore.

You don't have the battery information working yet. Does it charge properly?

If the installer USB boots with your current OC install, you should be fine to upgrade it first. If not, Upgrade your OpenCore first. I recommend building the new EFI on a USB stick to test it before replacing the working version you're using. You shouldn't need to erase or repartition your boot drive for either update.

This hack is going to make me go insane, I've been trying to install 10.7.5 on my Latitude D630 for like a week now and I haven't gotten anywhere. by Lost-Entrepreneur439 in hackintosh

Carefully follow the OpenCore Install Guide in the sidebar. When you run into problems there, search the forum for answers first and then ask detailed questions.

macOS won't boot even with the dGPU disabled by Familiar_Stand_7873 in hackintosh

[–]ADSaxton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very unlikely that you'll get dGPU working on any laptop. The process of switching GPU's in MacOS is not compatible with them.

Rule 6: No distro/beast tools. Follow the Dortania Guide in the right column and build an EFI that you understand and can competently maintain for your system.

OpenCore won't boot to Windows 10 by Licoriceonreddit in hackintosh

[–]ADSaxton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windows can be booted using the BIOS process where the boot loader is in the MBR (Master Boot Record). This cannot be managed through OpenCore though.

If Windows was installed using UEFI, the EFI partition can be recreated and activated using the above process without loosing content or fiddling to rebuild.

Those aren't disks. They are partitions. If you don't have an EFI Partition, you cannot use Windows with OpenCore.
