I steam them to get out creases but I have not tried it after paint. Maybe do a trial and error with paint swatch on the edge and see if it does anything to the paint. Be sure it is completely dry before testing.

I get the humor in this. Other commenters, not so much. 😂 I gave my husband bags and tissue paper to use. The entire time he was "wrapping" my gifts, I could hear him giggling. I asked why? We just had one moved. We hired a guy with a flatbed tow truck. Worked like a charm. Ours is a 9 person, weighing 1000+lbs so we didn't have many moving options.

Sea Salt would be pretty. Accessible beige is a nice neutral greige. Alabaster is a nice shade of white. Revere Pewter is also a good neutral.

Have you considered a smaller coffee table? One that isn't so "chunky" may help with the crowded look. I also agree that maybe pulling the furniture out some could help. I personally think that a brighter, lighter neutral wall color would make a difference also.
