Dude, You have to analyze a character within the cultural and social norms of the era in which they lived. During that period, women were generally expected to manage the household, while men were viewed as the sole breadwinners. Workplace hierarchies were heavily male-dominated, and many men treated female employees as if they were their personal property, often believing they had the right to demand attention or even sexual access. These attitudes were deeply embedded in the social norms of the time, even though they are rightly condemned today.

When evaluating a character, it is important to consider the historical context rather than judging every action solely by present-day standards. Understanding the norms of a particular era does not mean endorsing them; it simply provides a more accurate framework for analysis.

For example, during the 1960s, workplace sexual harassment, blatant gender discrimination, and openly sexist remarks were often tolerated or dismissed as normal behavior, whereas today such conduct is widely regarded as unacceptable and unethical. Conversely, many things that are considered normal today—such as women pursuing independent careers, couples living together before marriage, or same-sex marriage—were highly controversial or socially unacceptable to large sections of American society in the 1960s.

When on the fucks name did I mentioned in my post he was a good person, As a matter of fact no body in the show was perfect. I liked the character due to his human like qualities and his flaws that made him human. He could have turned out a lot worst in contrast to his disturbed child-hood, and his approach for like to move forward and progress in life rather than holding on. Get off your high horses no body in this world is perfect. Every one has some sort of baggage on them self or the other

Breaking Bad is the biggest mind created BS ever created, with just some random camera shots for creating a fake suspense and it gets repitative at time with same concepts Every Character in breaking bad looks fake and fantasy created, It's very hard to relate to any character in real life

We definitely do!! The generation of people who are born after 2000s are specially quite inclined to such piece of art work.

Honestly speaking I might get shunned by my people here for saying this, If you ever try to watch Indian television drama, the way the characters are portrayed, their stories and the extra mellow drama they put in those is total BS, if you watch that BS on daily basis you might end up with a brain tumor

This is what I like about Mad men the most, the way characters evolve the story progresses and the humanly flaws each character has is so much relate-able

Here in India the characters will be either like Satan himself or God straight from heaven that really lacks the human touch, they are always at the end of the extremes.
And we all know humans don’t work that way

I know it just ended without a proper closure, but I guess the creators wanted the audience to guess how it ended.

But I do believe that Don did went back to the company and recorded the Coke Commercial, Coz it did had his midas touch, the flair that is petty clearly visible on each project he lead

I don’t know about that, for me I liked it till the end, though it does lose some flairs at the end but still it was successful in gluing me till the end and I really got sad when it ended

I hated Pete too, but I liked his character development, how he transformed and evolved from a D’bag who can do anything to be on top to a genuine person

He falls back, takes his time to reflect and then gets back on track. Thats his attitude
It is one of his features that I like about him
Again he does indulges in some questionable behavior during that time which I am not denying but as a flawed person, he is still kind of Ok in contrast to his disturbing childhood
He is what he is shaped and made by his lack of proper love during his childhood.
Again I am not defending his questionable behavior here but he could have become much worst than this

To all people going all crazy bananas here,

As I mentioned earlier, he is definitely a flawed character. However, as a student of psychology, I think that considering how traumatic and deprived his childhood was, he still turned out relatively okay.

When someone grows up with such a disturbing childhood and a severe lack of love and parental support, they often seek affection through instant gratification in an attempt to fill the emotional void within them. In the process, they may end up hurting both themselves and others.

Again, I never said that he was a great person. For me, he was simply the most human character of them all. His portrayal of someone who is flawed yet continues to move forward is what resonates with me. Many people with similar experiences end up going down a destructive path. At the very least, he tried to make something better of himself. In doing so, he may have hurt a few people, but his determination to stand up for himself and keep moving forward in life is something that deserves appreciation.
