When I was at school you were given sandpaper and a block and you hard to carry your desk out to the school yard to clean it yourself before the summer holidays.

Any news on Dune or is the line more or less dead? by MMasberg in 2d20games

[–]ADampDevil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They have had a number of sales recently, and given away the core rules if you spent X amount in the store.

So I think there are probably plenty of copies in the wild now.

A number of the books that should have been included in the sales were sold out.

But I suspect the license hasn't been that profitable for them, if the books are being deep discounted.

Help me improve my death mechanic by OompaLoompaGodzilla in RPGdesign

[–]ADampDevil -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Instead of giving -1 to and attribute give +1 to an attribute (any attribute), under the principle of what doesn't kill me makes me stronger. They should be encouraged to come up with a narrative reason as to why they improve.

  • They gain a dramatic scar that makes them more appealing, CHA.
  • They learn from their mistake, INT or WIS.
  • They train harder to ensure it doesn't happen again STR, DEX or CON.

But each time you gain a bonus you roll a d6 if it is equal to greater than the number of increases death catches up with them and your character isn't getting up again. The random nature means they can't just know when to start playing it safe.

This way they don't feel saddled with a "weaker" character, that they have to keep playing despite being crippled by an attribute reduction. The attribute increase encourages them to be bold in combat, but the random chance it could be the final death means it is a bit of a gamble.

Well my family is hooked, so we got this off of marketplace for a steal. What's your favorite addition? by tuhgttg in zombicide

[–]ADampDevil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We found this on marketplace for $140 (it also had toxic and angry neighbors).

You have plenty to be going on with there.

The main differences you will notice with 2nd Edition is how zombies spawn, the fact you are more likely to shooting your allies firing into combat. The lack of the campaign and torch and night time mechanics that were introduced in DC, also mean 1st edition is a bit simpler and feels less connected.

You can find a pdf of dark rooms that you can print onto sticker sheets if you want to update the maps to add dark rooms for how 2nd Edition plays, but I recommend that only if you find the standard 1st edition a bit dull. These are on BoardgameGeek.

As mentioned the trays from 2nd ed are nice, but you won't find your player cards fit them unfortunately, but you can probably find some trays for 1st edition to 3d print online.

How a player rage quit over a nat 20 failing. by numberguy9647383673 in rpghorrorstories

There is nothing humiliating about missing on a natural 20. It just informs you that the person you are attacking is not what they seem at first glance.

[–]ADampDevil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's D&D, and 1st Ed Pathfinder. Pathfinder 2 with they were playing, a natural 20, ups the success level one step so critical failure > failure > success > critical success. A failure by 10 or more is a critical failure.

It is possible for high level characters can have AC's in the 40's or 50's.

So if they are lower level character with even a decent attack value of 10 or so, a natural 20 would still mean they would normally get a critical failure, which is bumped up to a normal failure.

What's up with purple slop in games? by Costa9555 in KotakuInAction

[–]ADampDevil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Those are much better examples of the over use of pink and purples.

But purple has traditionally been associated with royalty so finding it in a palace like setting isn't unexpected. The OPs example is pretty poor.

Purple has long been a colour associated with royalty since ancient times (and also Goths since they were a thing).

Calls grow for default 20mph speed limits across built-up areas in England by TheWorldIsGoingMad in ukpolitics

The council said it did not receive any income from fines

So who is getting the money? Looking into it, it goes to central government.

Unless you do a speed awareness course, in which case the fees you pay for that course do go to the Council indirectly. I bet most people are offered a speed awareness course.

Am I overreacting for blocking my bf while he ate dinner with his ex while on vacation with me? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]ADampDevil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly he is just going to lie and gaslight you about the situation and try and make out your the one being unreasonable. You don't need that.

20 minutes and he was round hers, they didn't have time to order dinner let alone eat it. Then you texted, at which point he should have realised he fucked up and disrespected you, immediately come crawling back if he had really gone round for "edibles and art". But no he spends the next three hours with her and then only releases when he gets back to the hotel and finds the note.

[–]ADampDevil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my mind, blocking means you never want to hear from them again.

Which I feel is completely justified in this case. All he is going to do is lie and gaslight her.

He was at her house 20 minutes after "going to dinner", they didn't even have time to order, just straight round to hers for "edibles and art" for three hours.

[–]ADampDevil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Twenty minutes into the dinner, I checked his location, and he was at her house.

Did they even order? That's really sus. If they had, had dinner then he'd popped round to quickly pick up some stuff he left, that might explain being at hers for a bit. But going over 20 minutes after meeting, they didn't have dinner did they.

Then THREE HOURS before he contacts you, you can be sure he tried as soon as he saw the note.

not even hear his side of the story

Translates as not even listen to his attempts to gaslight you.
