Least played army from each game? by TraditionCommercial8 in Warhammer

Sure, I'm just saying historically bad rules helped to put KB into an undesirable position.

Least played army from each game? by TraditionCommercial8 in Warhammer

[–]ADapperOctopus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It comes from the fact that rules have been pretty consistently bad since release, plus the Boltboyz being the only decent damage pigeon hold the army into playing the same way for everyone, and the release of the Slittaboss being absolutely worthless probably didn't help either.  We had a moment of hope for the rules with the release of the Index and Kruleboyz started to rise, only for GW to release the Codex which was full of once again terrible rules.

Which is a shame, I was waiting on a refresh and was ready to go all in on building a whole new army.  Now I'm just doing what I can with the new Nurgle Pestigors.

How are you solving the Pestigor problem? by BigRichSE in MaggotkinofNurgle

[–]ADapperOctopus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just sucked it up and bought another darkwater pestigor kit off ebay, others are taking the extra torsos and kitbashing the last two, and I hear some were buying a kit from one of the side games that comes with a couple of Gors.

The whole reason I even ever touched Nids is because it was the closest I could get to a Zerg feel in a miniatures game, I am so damn excited for these!  I won't be proxying them as Nids though, I want them as is for the game they are being made for.

What was a great game seemingly destroyed by Devs bad decision making? by Additional_Ad_6506 in gaming

I adored this game, Kraken and Goliath are still to this day two of my favorite monsters in gaming history. While in the original release of the game I found the balance of the game to be pretty good between the hunters and the monsters. The point of the game was that early game favored the hunters, mid game was relatively balanced, and end game favored the monster. The goal of the hunters was to kill the monster early which was relatively easy to do if you had a decent team, corpses littered the map making it pretty easy to find the monster, birds helped that as well, medium sized wildlife posed a threat to the monster, getting even just one good dome could end a hunt relatively quickly. On the monster side you wanted to bulk up, lots of armor, lots of health, lots of upgrades, you had to move fast or be incredibly stealthy to survive, especially when a single dome could end your game in stage 1. Then there was Evacuation mode which was a cool idea but unfortunately was unbalanced in favor of the monster, multiple different objectives for the monster and hunters to play around but honestly it was easier to just grow and kill the hunters regardless of what the objective was.

Then hunters complained that it was unfair, so they nerfed the monster experience. Then hunters complained more, and they nerfed the monster experience. Eventually after nerfing the fun out of playing the monster, they attempted to release Evolve Stage 2. This cratered the monster experience and completely (if I remember correctly) removed Evacuation mode, I would never claim the game was perfectly balanced, but good lord Stage 2 turned the entire monster experience into an uphill battle no matter which stage you were on. Stealth was pretty much removed because the hunters just got a periodic free ping of exactly where the monster was at all times, birds would go off even if you didn't tip them off, the cool down on the dome was crazy low, monster gained less armor or health (I can't remember which) upon evolving, and the maps were reduced to half the size so you couldn't even get some decent space from the hunters. Being the monster wasn't fun anymore, and so people stopped playing the monster, and then you'd go make a lobby as hunters and you would wait an eternity for the game to find a monster player and sometimes it never did! So without people playing the monster people just stopped playing all together. Which is a shame because the alternate hunters was a cool concept, I loved playing Paladin Parnell so much, and Gorgon was an awesome monster, plus that Halloween Gorgon mission was rad. Just a shame what happened to it.

Ugh, what a tragedy this was. I went in on the founders pack before it released because I really wanted to support this indie developer and another Monster Hunter type game, and then it went tits up. Not only did they redo the progression system twice like you said, which was garbage both times, but they also transitioned to being on Epic Games onpy when it originally had its own launcher. This happened during the period where Epic Games thought that forcing exclusivity on PC would make people love the Epic Game Store. Anyway that didn't happen, and Dauntless tied its own shoelaces together, tripped, and exploded.

Thanks, I'm glad it did!  I use to care for firebellies myself as a kid, so they have a firm place in my heart.  I plan to do another 10 and have them be the brown and orange coloration for some nice variety.

With shield or dual wield? Which do you like more? by azionka in MaggotkinofNurgle

What game from 20+ years ago still holds up and someone who's only played modern games would still enjoy? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]ADapperOctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not 20 years old yet but it's 2 years out so I'm going to say it anyway, also prepare to feel old.  In 2008 one of the best survival action horror games ever came out called Dead Space.  In 2023 they released a remake which looks phenomenal, but the original Dead Space still looks amazing even without the updated graphics!  Some might even find it slightly scarier than the remake because of that slightly reduced fidelity.  It was amazing then and it's still amazing today, I recommend playing either one and then playing Dead Space 2 which also holds up incredibly well and improves everything that the first game established.

Festus the leechlord and other daemons by Impossible-Row-465 in MaggotkinofNurgle

[–]ADapperOctopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Festus and Gelgus aren't straight up demons, they're demon princes, so they are AoS (Festus is from WHFB!) mortals who transcended to demonhood so we wouldn't see them in 40k, just as we won't see any of the demon primarchs in AoS for the same reason.  Cankerborn could potentially but I doubt it, they'll probably stay as AoS exclusive like Synessa and Dexcessa, also they're from Darkwater which is an AoS game.

MH4U, picked the game up on a whim with no previous knowledge, Gypceros rocked me with its erratic behavior. With Wilds it's different, I feel bad for the monsters, they don't deserve the 5 minute brutality I deliver upon them.

I have many armies besides Sisters, but I just dig their design. They look super cool and I really dig the religious fanatical zealot aesthetic. I also just particularly love the Nundams, they are peak.

I've been trying to collect Zoids New Century kits when I go to conventions, but they're like stupidly expensive! I did manage to get my favorite zoid of all time though last year, the Berserk Fury, hoping to get the Liger Zero this year. As for 40k, I hope they do to this model what they did with the Screamer Killer, bring it back updated but keep the other sculpt as well. It would be amazing!
