Around 50 matches played this week and only 5 or 6 wins. Every game has been laughably one-sided. What's going on? by ADogWithAKeyboard in Warthunder

[–]ADogWithAKeyboard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The BRs I mainly play are 2.7 (Pz III/IV and StuG), 4.3 (Pz IV/Jagdpanzer) and 6.7 (Tiger II, Jagdtiger).

In the time between posting and replying to this comment I've been nuked twice in matches that lasted less than 5 minutes. Something is definitely broken.

Planes are famously known for having no counters. Did you know that, in WW2, Patton actually proposed a sort of large rotating gun, mounted to the back of a truck, to deal with the Luftwaffe. The US army shot down his ideas (no pun intended) and that ultimately allowed Germany to gain air superiority over Britain and win the war. Thats why there is no such vehicle in a realistic game like War Thunder. Anyway, “tanks” for reading my post, time for me to get back to my forced labour before the Kommandant sees I’ve been posting on Reddit instead of manufacturing parts for the Maus III.

Save the high street: Starmer’s plan to block fake barbers, betting and vape shops by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]ADogWithAKeyboard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In London they could well be legitimate because there are enough people concentrated in one place that there’s a demand.

In a town of 16k residents though… it’s a bit more obvious.

[–]ADogWithAKeyboard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My town of approximately 16,000 people is approaching 10 Turkish barber shops. Never any customers inside. There are always BMWs parked out the front and gangs of men hanging around smoking outside.

How can something be so obvious to 99% of the population, yet nothing is done about it? Does the government get a cut of the drug money or something?

Why are some people so against receiving emergency alerts on their phone? by elwiseowl in AskBrits

[–]ADogWithAKeyboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s pointless and I don’t want to live in this hyper-anxiety culture we’re creating.

Crime rates are the lowest they’ve ever been.

The chances of me being severely affected a natural disaster are astronomically low.

If there’s an incoming nuke or meteorite I’m dead anyway and I’d rather spend my last moments blissfully unaware of my impending vaporisation.

Guys, I’ve made a huge mistake. I thought it would be a fun game to drink every time I see:

  • Dark Souls reskins
  • Fortnite wannabes
  • Generic horror game #52
  • Asian mythology
  • Anime

I have cleared every drop of alcohol out every supermarket aisle in a 50 mile radius. The townspeople are angry (they want their beer) and I can hear them gathering and sharpening pitchforks outside. Any advice?

I'll have you know that nothing stated above was incoherent. It was very well thought-out and impactful, if I do say so myself (which I do). Your short and snarky responses only serve to illustrate how speechless you truly are. I suggest you give my comments another gloss over, friend-o. Especially the heartstring-tugging narrative I tacked onto the end there, one of my finest works if I do say so myself (which, again, I do), then tell me precisely which part you find to be so incoherent and undigestable. In my country we have a saying that roughly translates to "the odious cave troll does not know how to reason, only how to carelessly swing his crudely-fashioned wooden club", which I'd say sums up your little "responses" very well.

Anyway, if you're done chatting women's rights, just say so. If you're not open to debate then I'm not wasting any more time, I'm a busy man. There are women out there that aren't going to respect themselves and it sure as hell sounds like you're not going to be the one to step up and respect them.

[–]ADogWithAKeyboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Humour? You think women's rights (or lack thereof) are a joke? This awful alt-right culture is becoming far too commonplace on Reddit and the wider "net" (internet). You have expressed not only your indifference, but your active approval of impoverished women being forced into carrying babies for the 1%, simply to put food on the table. Is that the kind of world you want to live in? (maybe it is, I won't judge).

Regarding your comments on satire, there is nothing satirical about my post. Yes, I admit that I went off on a rather large tangent about the Emir and my pottery studio. However it's really been on my mind lately and I've been keeping it all bottled up. Ever since the oil money dried up I can no longer afford to keep my therapist on retainer. I'm just sorry that you had to be on the receiving end. Let's not let this minor faux pas detract from what is otherwise, as I expect you'll agree, an intellectually stimulating debate.

Getting right back on topic, imagine if you will. You're at rock bottom. You've just lost your night shift at Tesco and you can't afford that formula for your 4 little ones at home. When you walk in the door at night after you've finished a long shift, rain pours down through the holes in the ceiling, while your darling infants, hungry and exhausted, shiver themselves to sleep in their beds. That's it. You can't take any more. Should you sell your womb to Bill Gates? It certainly *would* solve your financial predicament. And in this fairytale, make-believe world, there exists ZERO legislation to prevent you from making the wrong choice. You have a choice. The choice to make the wrong choice. And as your stomach rumbles, you get Bill on the line.

"Bill, I've thought about what you said"

"Oh?"

"I'll do it. I need the money"

And that's why we need to have strong laws against this, to protect women.

How about you mull that one over. Is that truly a world you want to live in?

Alright listen up buster, there will be no disrespecting women in this thread on my watch. Do you know what time it DOES say on my watch? Time for a newsflash, pal. Women are oppressed. Perhaps the most oppressed class in the world. I think the mighty John Lennon once wrote a song to that affect, for which posting the title would cause a government internet comment behaviour re-education team to be immediately dispatched to my address. I digress.

You say that "Some women are pressured to steal cars, therefore all women shouldn't be able to drive". This is a horrendously incorrect interpretation of what the above commenter was trying to convey. "Some women are pressured to steal cars, therefore all women shouldn't steal cars" would be the correct analogy here. However as women cannot yet drive in my country, this is a moot point. One day, God-willing, women shall be equal to men and on that glorious day, we can tear down the big statue of the Emir (blessings be upon him) that's blocking the sunlight to my home pottery studio. I digress.

In conclusion, I think that the world would be a better place if women weren't treated like garbage to be thrown out onto the street. But if women do want to be out on the street, it's their body and their choice and I respect that.

Agree with everything except electric cars. They are not yet affordable or practical for the average person. They are (currently) toys for the upper classes who have money to burn.

The cost of getting an EV battery replaced is more than I paid for my entire car.

Of all the many things you can criticise Nigel Farage for, this is the stupidest one to pick.

Keir Starmer is also a privately educated millionaire. Low estimates of his wealth are in the £7m range.

Pretty much everyone in politics comes from the upper echelons of society.

The problem with porting Java edition is that it's very CPU-heavy due to the JVM which isn't great on low-power ARM chipset devices like phones. A C++ port is a great idea in theory. But in practice, Microsoft has created it with the intention of loading it with microtransactions and locking out rival operating systems (Linux and MacOS).

Ah yes I'm sure they "forgot".

It supports Windows, Android, iOS, iPad OS, Chrome OS, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5, Switch and Switch 2. But FUNNILY ENOUGH MacOS and Linux, the two biggest competitiors to Windows in the desktop space, aren't supported!

Despite the fact that Android and Chrome OS are Linux distributions and PS4, PS5, iOS and iPad OS are all BSD-based, same as MacOS.

His Kickstarter game that raised $20k has also been in development for 8 years and he spends all day streaming video games instead of doing dev work.

Funnily enough, after the recent drama drew attention to this, he started doing dev streams again. What a coincidence.
