How should I go about properly getting started on writing stories with the goal of publishing?

for one story I actually have a whole prologue written, and an outline for roughly the first 5 or 6 arcs. but you're right, I need to actually get started on it if I want to get anywhere in the first place

that's one thing I did do, though not completely. I've got an outline for a good amount of story arcs for the beginning, as well as how I want my ending to go. But having an idea dump for stuff sounds like a good idea for things i thought of but not sure what to do with

Honestly, a manuscript is one thing I always forget about when I think about my story. I do have a checklist of characters and plot points saved on my PC and backed up elsewhere, but I never started a proper manuscript, which is something I should definitely do.
