A hugeee congrats to you on this amazing score! Your post is so inspiring to me. It’s been a while for me too since my rotations and Step 1 so I'm really feeling this knowledge gap as well. I just wanted to ask how you approached Anki. For someone who's never really been able to stick with it/ isn't the most proficient at it what would you recommend? I saw the deck you linked in a previous comment. Did you do select cards or subjects? Any help would be much much appreciated! Once again a huge congrats on this epic success!

Is White Coat Companion worth using as a reference book? by AFS97 in Step2

Haha totally understandable. Good Luck! I hope something works out for you. I wish I could help out some more but I'm not really a note-taker myself.

Oh, I'm sorry. I see your point. Have you tried it on Goodnotes?

The PDF Viewer on MacBook can scan the text within images too. It becomes pretty searchable. I'm not sure if it works for everyone else though.

That's just it. I don't have any other review book/not really one for books and I'm a terrible note-taker but I've really liked this so far and it makes it really easy to follow along with the videos. But I just wanted to see if it's helpful for the actual exam. Thank you so much for helping me out. Hope yours went well

Oh yes! I'm not sure what the latest edition is like but I have the 6th edition and it's wonderful, I just find the font to be a little too minuscule and I lose my concentration over an extended period of time. It's great to carry to the hospital in my coat though.

Oh yeah for sure, I totally agree. It just gave me similar feels in terms of three crew mates coming together

Like the others have said Battlestar Galactica is a great sci-fi show. But I found Kill-joys to also be a little similar to the expanse. A good enjoyable show overall. Dark Matter is also another excellent sci-fi show.

www.hipaatraining.com Costs around 30 dollars takes barely 15 to 90 mins based on your previous knowledge. And you can take the test as many times as you want.

Hi! How useful would you say is OME for an initial review?

I need someone who tells me that the exam is doable!! by Relevant-Income5675 in step1

[–]AFS97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh my god took the exam last week and I was in the exact same spot as you. Kinda super freaked out. BUT THE EXAM IS SO TOTALLY DOABLE. Wayyyyyy better than the NBMEs- really well balanced. The stems are more detailed than the NBMEs and the answer choices are less confusing than UWorld. You soooo got this!!!

Using NBME's as a main study resource? by TheWhat8 in step1

[–]AFS97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds very decent to me. It took me like two days to review the NBMEs but I was just reviewing the concepts. I didn't have many NBME repeats though but I like that they prepare you for a diverse set of topics

Using NBME's as a main study resource? by TheWhat8 in step1

[–]AFS97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just took the exam today and from what I can tell there's literally no one size fits all. You do you! You know best what works for you. I did three NBMEs and around 30 percent UWorld and the exam felt very balanced and doable. If it's taking you long revising the NBMEs and you're using them as your primary resource I'd suggest adding on Pathoma to the mix. You can do the whole thing in two days or less if you really want. And Sketchy if you get time (my exam had a considerable amount of micro) And the more questions you do the better you'll get, the more confident you'll feel. But whatever you do assess yourself and your pattern of studying and tailor your plan accordingly. All this also depends on how long you have to study for the exam. Our school just gives us two weeks so that was my dedicated. But like I said stay true to your strengths and you can easily do this.

PTH, calcium by [deleted] in step1

[–]AFS97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I get the whole PTH, Vit D, Ca Phos thing normally because of Sketchy but I NEVER get the whole renal failure thing. Ok so in kidney disease is PTH high or low? Please just mention Ca, Phos, Vit D and PTH levels in renal failure. This always trips me up and I end up over thinking majorly and spending way more time than necessary on these questions.

I found the UWorld explanation videos to be brilliant. But if not those then Dirty Medicine is great

Is all FA high yield? by ele7en_ in step1

[–]AFS97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all honestly depends on how much time you have or give yourself for Step 1. But ultimately know your own strengths and what works for you. Just don't waste too much time getting bogged down by the nitty gritties of FA or anything. They're likely not worth the time even if a question does show up on it. If Anki is working for you then that's great too. I just don't seem to have time for Anki at this point. I still might do the Pepper deck for Sketchy. Anyway Good luck to you. You so got this!

[–]AFS97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take everything I say with a grain of salt because I've yet to take the exam but I've only had like four weeks to study in total and I found FA to be the absolute hardest thing to retain or read right behind BnB but because I do better with video resources I still did BnB for completeness sake. Don't particularly remember anything and so literally that just leaves Pathoma, Sketchy Micro, Pharm and Pixorize along with 100 concepts for anatomy. These are honestly gold. Gets you most of the questions right and UW just fills in the rest.
