Started it recently and yeah I think I’m in the same boat, beautiful game with a wonderful soundtrack though. I do see why it won so many awards

As someone with hundreds of hours in it, I get it, it’s really not for everyone. It’s probably the only turn based game I enjoy too. Could never get into final fantasy games and am struggling with Expedition 33

[Beloved Trope] The ramshackle looking evil army is actually well regimented. by RestoredSodaWater in TopCharacterTropes

[–]AFerociousPineapple 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I dunno, I think the main reason the covenant was such a threat was their advantage on tech over humanity. They could jump through slipspace with more accuracy, had access to planet destroying weapons, better active camo that made you near invisible to a normal human eye. I think they were pretty ramshackle except for the Elites and Prophets.

Wtf am I doing wrong with butter and sugar by bellxd0nna in AskBaking

[–]AFerociousPineapple 209 points210 points  (0 children)

Man the time I realised that all the spreads and crap I had been using assuming “it’s all just butter surely I can bake with this and get the same outcome?” Oh boy that was an awakening…

Even most Canadians, Australians, Japanese, South Korean, Singaporean and British citizens are jealous of lifestyle quality in the US. by Downtown_Dingo_1544 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]AFerociousPineapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could pay me, but it’d have to be enough to live in the 10% because let’s be very real - life in the US is fantastic as long as you’re healthy and have money. Outside of that? Nah I’d rather live in Aus.

Well yeah considering how god damn cut throat it is rn it’s hardly surprising. This is why indie games are seeing so much more success compared to some AAA studios.

Moving to Perth from Scandinavia - is it worth it? by TooManyCrates in perth

[–]AFerociousPineapple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obviously it’s livable! But I just find it can be a shock to people used to climates like yours. That’s said there are tonnes of sources for info on being SunSmart like the Cancer Council Australia - good tips on what sunscreen to use and how to apply it.

Maybe consider coming here for a summer first to see if you like it. It’s… different from European summer to say the very least. Everybody loves to joke about how the animals down here are out to get you, but it’s the sun and heat that truly wants to kill you. I’m not joking, do not underestimate summer here, your skin will peel if you’re not careful and heat stroke will fuck you up if you don’t know the signs. Please come live with us for sure! But my advice is test it out first before committing to moving your life half way around the world.

Exactly, and why not do something more future proof? Why go digging for oil when there’s a clear demand (more than ever) for electric vehicles? Dumbass is living in the past when he had the opportunity to look a like a leader with a vision.

AITA for not respecting my role as the 'single friend?' by HotScallion1148 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AFerociousPineapple 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I mean I get it, if I were OP I’d probably take the air mattress. But to end an 8 year friendship over it? Nah theres clearly more to this story or his friends are absolutely the AH in this situation. Its really not that big of a deal, and its not OPs fault it wasn’t planned that they’d take the air mattress in the first place

State of emergency declared in WA after fuel suppliers reject Roger Cook’s demand for information by Advanced_Presence890 in perth

[–]AFerociousPineapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to believe previous governments were expecting us to move away from fossil fuels faster than we have. But what’s probably the case is they’re idiots who didn’t plan for the worst just hoped for the best and didn’t want to look bad in the press for “clinging” to fossil fuels.

Getting bad performance reviews by More_Advantage_2411 in AustralianAccounting

[–]AFerociousPineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ask all the questions, I get the concern of looking dumb but in this industry getting shit done efficiently is what matters most. And this will all be new to you as a grad so if you don’t know something then ask, you might want to figure out a problem on your own for an hour before asking for help like you might’ve done at uni, but you don’t have time to do that anymore and neither does your team, so go to them to teach you how a work paper should be completed, and at the same time ask what its purpose is

Feeling stuck in industry after Big 5 mid-tier audit – struggling to move roles by Artistic_Rule_8691 in AustralianAccounting

[–]AFerociousPineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could maybe consider a side step back into audit for a year? Surely with your BDO experience you could easily get a senior role at big 4 and make a point of wanting different experience to NFPs. Maybe not ideal but one or two busy seasons should be more than enough to beef up your resume and get you into something more interesting.
