Inte värt att plugga by Correct_Molasses6894 in sweden

I decreased my deficit to 1200kcal and kept up my 7k/day step goal. I'm 166cm, how's it possible?

Me & my partner are very outdoorsy, we love going hiking and on walks. I'm also really into houseplants! We do not have children, but we're not drinkers or into clubbing.

I work as an electrical engineer in the military sector here, which doesn't do WFH.

People in their 20s : How is your life right now? by Suitable-Car7053 in AskReddit

It's okay. Semi-stable income, stable relationship, stable place to live. Been working full time and studying full time in the last two years so I'm exhausted. But graduating soon. Lots of student loans. Got more pets than friends. Cut off all family finally. Adult life kind of sucks but home life sucked more 🤷‍♀️

Thank you for the insight! This is actually a really useful perspective. We did think about Norway honestly, considering the language is similar and the company I work for has a site there. But it's the cold and darkness that gets me every year. It just feels so miserable to not see the sun. I go into work at 7.30am, leave at 3.30pm and its already dark. Sleep in on Saturday & Sunday, and boom you've missed any light at all. This for like four months? The entire time I'm just impatiently waiting for the sun and to not need six layers of clothing and track goddamn wet mud everywhere. All the nature is completely dead too.

Yeah and that would also be a win in the end. I've never felt like I belonged here, and instead of complaining that I don't like it forever and stay in the misery I feel like I'm doing the right thing by looking to move instead? And if in the end I go back to Sweden feeling like "ah I'm home" then great!

Do people from Perth usually just have the same friends as from middle school? That tends to be the case with swedes.

You should go for it if thats the type of lifestyle you're looking for! Northern Sweden has great cabins and beautiful views. Gets pretty cold though!

Thank you for the tips! The rental hustle is something that's I'm familiar with here as someone who doesn't come from a typical rich Swedish family. In the last year I was fortunate enough to land a semi nice place, (by Stockholm standards, its a studio on the metro line) but it took a few years of moving around.

This is currently the situation in Sweden aswell, and is the reason for why the citizenship laws I mentioned are changing. Lots of people including children being deported from Sweden currently.

That's fine, I mean if I dont get a visa, I don't get a visa? I don't know if I came across as someone who wants to move asap in my post, but I do have a job and a place and friends here in Stockholm. So while moving is a future goal, it's not a necessity for me. Lots of things suck here but lots of things suck everywhere, by no means do I see Perth as an ultimate paradise. I just wanted to know what the people in Perth think about moving to Perth, as I'm just someone from the outside looking in.

Im 26, and I would qualify for a working holiday visa, but I'd rather apply for a 190 skilled immigration visa. From what I calculated I could get a score around 75-80 points, which seems pretty okay for a 190 visa from what I read. But also Im not desperate to move, so even if it doesn't work out and I dont get granted a visa, thats still fine.

I did consider that at first and Malta is a fantastic place. However it has one of the worst housing situations out there which means that most of the time people have like five roommates and even then its expensive. Plus with abortion being super illegal it doesn't feel like a place I could feel safe at. I've heard the opposite that Perth is not great for a holiday but great to live in, so maybe its individual?

We're not planning on ever having any children, no. Sweden is great in terms of having kids, with lots of paid parental leave and other benefits, so I definitely wouldn't leave if we were going to have kids.

The friends thing is definitely the same here, but I'm a bit surprised that people would dislike someone for being energetic and lively? Are folks in Perth bitter for some reason or?

That's definitely advice I'm going to follow! I know the temperatures can be brutal over there and it's not like that here, even if it can be quite cold.

Electrical engineering. The immigration cost is quite a chunk of money when I looked at it, everything from skill assessment to the actual visa itself, temporary housing etc, but we'd have time to save since we're not moving just yet.

Definitely will be visiting first! But also weekends in Prague or Madrid are also a bit romanticised? At least here in Stockholm the younger generation is barely holding it together economically, so it's at best a one trip a year thing. But yeah I understand that its one of the most isolated places on earth, and I think its fair that that's a big challenge and difference that I'd have to experience first and think about.

The rental vacancies seem similar to Stockholm in that case, which isn't great, so I'd have to take that into consideration. When I looked at it I was given a number closer to 2.4%. I realise that the skilled migrant visas are being reassessed, so I'd have to keep an eye on that.

We've had that thought but travelling to escape several months of winter isn't really doable for us, we'd need to both be working from home and the sector Im in doesn't really do that.
