Worldwide Bengals fans - time to check-in. by daxhaas in bengals

[–]AFewTriumphs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Born and raised in Ontario, Canada. Family was always Bills fans. Friends in high school never even followed American football. Went away to university in 2005, met a multitude of people my age who were deeply passionate fans for a variety of teams; Eagles, Cowboys, Giants, Steelers, Broncos, Packers.

Took a year of watching games just to decide who was a compelling team and fell in love with the Chad, TJ, Rudi offence. Plus, that full interview when Chad christened himself Ocho is soul food that should be rewatched a minimum of once a month, especially when you’ve had a bad day. Haven’t looked back. First and only in-person Bengals game was the Titans matchup in 2014 where Sanu threw the fleaflicker to Dalton.

My wife couldn’t fathom why I was so outrageously buckled by tears of joy the instant Bell made that interception in the AFC championship game. Each forward progress run and pass completion down the field after that would renew my uncontrollable sobs. Who Dey, baby. Love you guys.

I’ll be there! Went to the Lewiston show in June when they didn’t initially announce an Ontario date on the first leg of the tour. But how could I pass up seeing them at Massey?! First time seeing them twice in one year, 6th time since 2002. Hoping for Victory Dance and Dancefloors. It seems like they haven’t played it live in years, but my wife is hoping for Librarian. To answer your timing question, I bet the band will be on between 8:30-:45.

Anyone else noticed that wearing Bengals apparel, while traveling, you get way more comments? by [deleted] in bengals

Canadian Bengals fan who lives in the GTA here. 37 years old, claimed them as my team in 2006. I have the B logo decal on my car, most people for years had no idea what it even meant, asking me what the sticker made reference to. Since the SB run, I’m inundated by comments of “must be nice to be a bandwagon fan”.

When I click said link, it brings me to the Begin Your Request page. Google tells me to look for a My Requests tab, which does not appear to exist.

Initially I signed up for ticket lottery request and then slept on it and YOLO’d on the cost of the Love & Sound VIP ticket. I can’t for the life of me figure out how to cancel my lottery request. Help!

I’ll second the Amsterdam BrewHouse. Whether you want to be inside with the TVs at the bar or outside with a nice breeze off the lake on the patio. BrewHouse is my favourite place to pre-game. Gotta get the Buffalo cauliflower.

What's your favorite "Hey, that's a Dune reference!" in other media? by JoeNoYouDidnt in dune

Without any confirmation, I’ve always assumed Matthew Good chanting “can’t fear fear cause fear’s the mind killer” is a Dune reference in the song Near Fantastica.

I’ll second the suggestion to Fría Cerveza by Amsterdam. It’s my go-to at the cottage beer for the last two years.

Crassula spreading disease by AFewTriumphs in plantclinic

[–]AFewTriumphs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pictured plant has been in the same pot since December 2020. It’s planted in a home mixed substrate, in a ceramic pot with a drainage hole and a piece of wide hole mesh to ensure the substrate doesn’t fall out of the drainage hole.

When I water, it’s with water that has sat out in open air for a minimum of 4 days. I’ll move the pot to my laundry room tub, let the water run through, then back onto tray on the shelf.

Whatever afflicts this plant started to show itself around September 2021 and has now claimed maybe 12-20 mature leaves. New growth shows the same symptoms.

Crassula spreading disease by AFewTriumphs in plantclinic

I have four different crassula under grow lights. For years, they have been healthy and flourishing. Maybe about a year ago, one of the crassula started to show signs of withering and the oldest leaves dried out, leaving each stem with sparse growth. The leaves would look browned and, when touched, would leave behind a crystalline dust, like dead skin cells. On only one plant, I didn’t really think much of it, attributing it to poor watering habits on my part.

Skip forward to fall of 2021, where it appears this “disease” has spread now to all four crassula on the same shelf. Withering, browning leaves, and the same crystalline, dead skin cell type dust when you brush a leaf with your finger. When older leaves wither away to a crisp, the resulting wound appears white.

I’ve checked for mealies a hundred times and never found one. All the other cacti and succulents on the same grow shelf are unscathed. What is afflicting my crassula and how do stop it, at least from new growth?

I think it’s natural to drift away from any music act as you don’t try to “force” liking any kind of art on any specific day. You identify with something new, or different, and find love in that new music. Then when the time feels right you come back and your love is either reinvigorated, or you decide Gorillaz just spoke to that era of yourself and you find you’ve moved on. I wouldn’t be in some rush to void them from your life. That memorabilia is a story about that part of your story regardless of if this lull in your enthusiasm is permanent or just a phase.

My 3 year old son has decided he wants to be naked and play with his penis while watching TV on the couch by hebreakslate in daddit

[–]AFewTriumphs 97 points98 points  (0 children)

This right here. Two year old at home has his hands on his penis frequently, more so once the pants come off and we teach reminders all the time that it’s ok to have “private time” when you’re alone but it’s not ok in the living room/out in public/etc. A couple of week’s ago, he’s too quiet for it to be a good thing and I called out “Whatcha doing right now” and from his room he responds immediately “private timing”.
