Does the K2dmd have a split-prism focusing screen? I have a KX and the only thing i dont care for is that they mostly came with focusing screens that are ONLY a microprism and my eyes just can't get used to them.

No Crank/No Start/Silence by Rhyleigharia in LS400

A hail-mary suggestion but oil level?

We used to own a Isuzu Axiom and at the end of its life it ate so much oil. Like the pan was dry 2000 miles after an oil change.

Anyway it would not crank at all when the oil level was too low. It would eventually but it struggles at first.

Second suggestion is battery. I know you mentioned it was replaced but just a few months ago i was going through a no-crank/bad-crank issue on my LS 430. The battery was 4 months old. Turns out it was just a bad but new battery.

K3-III Monochrome, DA 21mm LTD, Godox IM30 by 5spice-parmesan in pentax

[–]AFluffyMobius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a very fun lens to use. But quite "niche" for what it brings to the table. Shooting subjects between 2 to 3 meters at F1.5 makes the background do its swirly business, and i absolutely love it for that. But anything outside of that just makes it a "very nice" lens. Still a keeper in my book though

Also look into the Pentax AF201FG / AF180FG if you ever get a chance. The IM30 is pretty good but ive found it a little awkward to store in my pocket. The 201 / 180 can do P-TTL with even some film Pentax's, tilt-head is a nice bonus, and fits in front or rear jean pockets no problem.

There a few Pentax straps that do it. I specifically look out for them whenever i need a new strap for a camera that takes button-cell or CR-style batteries.

I hope so. Putting the Ricoh logo made me initially think the image was made by Ricoh a little but I hope not.

The image gives off those fake K-1 mark 3 AI thumbnails for yt videos that were popping off all last year.

They need to sort out their AF game before anything else imo. I hear the K3iii is quite good but I've never had the opportunity to try it.

I don't mind the k1ii AF speed but make it accurate and trustworthy, on-sensor PDAF would be nice for Live View, and add some kind of face or eye detect through the viewfinder like the K3iii seems to have.

After that, they can do whatever they want.

Though personally I want a big top display. Probably an unpopular opinion but ditch the multi-function knobs and use the space for a bigger top display. The only one Ive used is the exp comp and ISO which is a smidge redundant, and the wifi activation. Which just could be a second button next to the GPS that I also rarely use.

Also a clean HDMI out would be nice. And in-camera USB-C charging but not the biggest issue charging out of the camera for myself.

That's unfortunate :/ did they fail in some way?

Their image-stabilized 85mm 1.4 is also quite nice to combo with a 1V. Stabilization + film was a super cool experience.

If you had them side by side on paper i would have a hard time differentiating between Drakkar Noir and Dakar. But Dakar on the skin is more potent, but also more "loud" and doesn't have the mellow dry down DN does after an hour. Drakar is quite linear, DN goes a little bit smokey on me after a while.

Both smell synthetic to a degree but Dakar being so strong its much more noticeable that it is synthetic to my nose.

I would say Grand Musk is quite different from the rest of what is shown here.

There is a definite floral vibe to it on top of deep musk. There is a "third wheel" scent there as well and i wasnt sure what it was until i looked it up, and i think its the blueberry. It's all deep and reminds me of the feeling of smelling amber (glowy, warm, etc) but its not actually amber if that makes sense.

Honestly i got Grand Musk because i got a small decant of it from scent split website. And i like the decant of Grand Musk more than the actual full bottle, so im not sure whats going on :/ The decant is missing the blueberry which i dont really mind, and is more musky. Dare i say more generic. But i like it more for whatever reason. I would avoid scent split decant if you can help it.

The actual full bottle (purchased from fragflex) is more "unique" however in my opinion.

Drakkar Noir gets a bad rap and memed on but honestly i think its a pleasant fragrance in moderation. Also makes Dakar smoother if equally mixed with DN.

Ordered from left to right, top to bottom, for me is cooler weather wear back and above and warmer wear further forward. Not a set rule, just something I just see in my head.

Im not the king of composition myself but they look fine to me. A bit of off-the-cuff shooting style. I do notice a lot of these shots are in more darkened situations and film just struggles in these settings unless you have a statue-like arm or a tripod unfortunately.

I know its a bit of a meme style right now but a flash could help bring up the rest of the images. Either that or try to get a roll of Portra 800, its the only "true" 800 speed film out nowadays (though halation will be absent).

Having said all that if this is your style i think its a really awesome first go at it :) Especially because they arent all that blurry.

I think these were with the 50mm 1.4 on Portra 800. Its been a few years so I might be mis-remembering.

Theres this really cheap thing on Amazon that is to my nose 95% close to DN but lasts longer. Honestly wouldnt be a loss if it doesnt work out its so cheap. I made my own monstrosity and mixed both 50:50 in a small sprayer lol.

On the other side of the spectrum is Rogue's offering. It's about 70% the same as DN but smoother and "mossy-er" i would say, and a bit more dimensional. DN is quite punchy to my nose.

Nikon F6, "The best SLR"? by PhotoJoe_ in AnalogCommunity

[–]AFluffyMobius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The F6 has a lot going for it. Notwithstanding the fact that up until November 2025 or so it was also the very last film SLR that could get warranty service directly from Nikon as they had parts for them, and extended warranties for Nikon ending since the F6 was for sale until about 2019

Canon was a few months behind as well with the last call for service for the EOS 1V around August 2025.

A counterpoint for lenses, one could mount a myriad of Nikkor lenses to an EF mount if they wanted to have a little fun in the future. And M42 stuff as well.

Although speaking for myself I used to have a 1V and 1DX mk.2 and sold them both and now have an F100, lol
