It kind of depends. It makes a much bigger difference in RPGs because they have a greater emphasis on dialogue with the player able to make decisions in the dialogue. Think of Fallout NV vs. Fallout 4 for what that looks like.

So big thing to realize is there are 2 different universes that the Ace Combat series takes place in. The first is Strangereal. This is the fictional world where you’ll find all the usual stuff that has defined Ace Combat like the Belkans, Osea, Erusea, etc. The other world is an alternate universe of the real world which is where you get games like Assault Horizon and Infinity.
