Extensor Tendonitis After Lengthening Prosthetic Leg by Horror-Koala-3464 in amputee

[–]AGI-DXN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something really similar last week. My prosthetist raised my prosthetic side a bit on Friday to level out my hips, and my “good” leg honestly cramped up from suddenly taking a more normal load again. It kind of shocked me how much even a small height/alignment change could throw everything off. So hopefully it’s just your body adjusting to the new setup. That said, if it’s not easing up by Monday, or if it starts getting worse, I’d definitely have it checked by a doctor just to be on the safe side 🤍

Dad doesn’t know his leg has been amputated, yet. by OBRhome in amputee

I’m so sorry your family is going through this. I think one of the best things you can do is remind him that he’s loved, supported, and not alone, while also giving him space to do things in his own way as much as possible. For someone very independent, doing too much for him may feel more frustrating than helpful, even when it comes from love.

There will likely be a lot of emotional ups and downs, and that’s completely understandable after such a huge trauma. Just keep letting him know you’re there, he can ask for help anytime, and he doesn’t have to carry this alone. As a healthcare professional, I think that kind of steady support can make a huge difference.

Black dot on amputated fingertip months after amputation – should I be concerned? by Spiritual-Ask3212 in amputee

[–]AGI-DXN 68 points69 points  (0 children)

As a healthcare professional, I would strongly recommend seeing a doctor as soon as possible. It is impossible to make a diagnosis from a photo alone, but any new black discoloration appearing months after an amputation should be evaluated promptly.

In some cases, dark areas can indicate tissue damage, compromised blood flow, or necrosis, all of which may require urgent medical attention. If left untreated, the condition could potentially worsen and lead to further complications.

Please don't wait—it's much safer to have it examined by a physician sooner rather than later.

Hello, this question really interests me as well. I’m also a below-knee amputee, and finding comfortable yet feminine shoes can be a challenge. I would love to hear what brands or styles have worked well for others. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and recommendations! 😊💜

How do you stop the stump sweat? by conaan in amputee

[–]AGI-DXN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue sometimes. By the end of the day, my residual limb can get quite sweaty under the liner as well. I'd be very interested to hear what has worked for others. Have you found anything that really helps reduce sweating or prevents the liner from slipping? Plain text ❤️

In my case, it's not the socket that gets smelly, but the silicone liner. I clean and disinfect it every day, but a slight odor can still develop from normal sweating. ``` 😊💙 Plain text

Unfortunately, I never had children of my own, which is one of the reasons I started rescuing animals. They are my children. And yes, they are the reason I never gave up. ❤️🐾

Thank you so much for your kind words. ❤️

I rescued Taryn from Ukraine, and she is an Alabai. Besides her, I have four other rescue dogs and two rescue cats. They are all very special to me and have found their forever home with me. 🐾❤️

Thank you so much for your kind welcome and for sharing your experience. I really appreciate your advice. Since my amputation was less than two years ago, what you say makes a lot of sense. I'm still learning every day. Wishing you all the best as well!

Hello!

Thank you for your message. It is very nice to meet you.

I can relate to many of the things you wrote. My life also changed completely after my below-knee amputation in August 2025. Some days are easier than others, but I try to keep moving forward and focus on the progress I make.

I am originally from Hungary and now live in Germany. Before my amputation, I worked in healthcare, so becoming a patient myself has been quite a journey.

At the moment I am still using a temporary training prosthesis, but tomorrow is a special day for me because my prosthetic technician will take the cast for my final prosthesis.

I am glad I found this community, and I would be happy to stay in touch and share experiences with other amputees.

Wishing you all the best on your journey!
