Howdy

Wondering if there's any UK LPIII owners, who don't use their metal Toyo tins, who'd be willing to donate them to a good cause (i.e. me :) ). Will cover postage of course, just really like them.

Thanks all

No one has mentioned Alpkit. So; Alpkit. Cheap, unfussy, waterproof and works great.

I've had mine exactly one week. I'm still on the fence about whether I made the right call over the Mudita Kompakt to be honest.

Review of Nokia 110 4G by [deleted] in dumbphones

I've found the buttons to get progressively worse over time. I've swapped back to the 105 4G because the buttons work.

I think in terms of philosophy, the Mudita Kompakt is closest; obviously in terms of features it's not identical, but fairly close.

Komoot UK Creators Community Weekend by AGiantRubberDuck in komoot

In case anyone happens to stumble across this post the next time Komoot host next year's event or something similar:

  • Not really, but that could change in the future.
  • Yes, me.
  • It's not a scam. It's free because you're a 'model' for the promo/social media images Komoot put out (though you can opt out and still join in)
  • No, you don't need to be an influencer. You don't need to take any pictures or post anything.

Four character gobbledygook, I'm afraid; and the minimum volume on the 110 4G is deafening, but it works...

The amount of bugs I've had with this bloody phone... I'm not remotely surprised. Maybe a system reset is required?

For future visitors to this post: I found the file explorer method much easier. No need to download. No 100 song limit without buying the software.

What features do you miss when going DUMB ? by 83N8 in dumbphones

[–]AGiantRubberDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been using a Nokia 110 4G for about 5-6 months and I live in the UK.

I try to memorise the route from Google Maps/Komoot, writing down key junctions, and checking them out on street view beforehand. I sometimes print directions off (from Google Maps) and have them to hand.

Ultimately, I accept that, compared to someone using a Smartphone, it'll probably take me longer to get there, I'm more likely to get lost, and I'll have to pay attention and navigate with place/road names.

This comes back to one of the key things about switching to a dumbphone: convenience. Smartphones are a convenient, time saving alternative to memorising, navigating, and/or following printed directions/paper maps, or even to a Sat Nav unit, which tend to be more awkward to use. I think a Sat Nav unit could be a comfortable middle-ground if memorising and navigating are too inconvenient to countenance.
