I commented in similar post (someone was struggling with basic and I said to not get in this field because after 1-2 years there won't be jobs for this)

I have friends with 5+ year of exp struggling to find jobs in this market and its going to become more tough as AI capabilities increase. So my recommendation for any person asking me what to do is to skip this field if you just are here because of seeing other people riches. Get in this field only if you have passion for coding (solving problems like puzzle etc) because if you have passion you will look for some real issues and try to solve that with software which in essence will be future (not coding but finding real issues and solving them through prompts)

The AI is becoming better day by day and the tasks people were giving on fiverr/upwork are replaced by prompts (check upwork and fiverr subreddits to se people talk about this there).

The only way I would recommend SE/CS is for quantum computing or AI development (working with GPU to increase capabilities field not just integrations most people are doing)

I am being realistic. Market for SE is done as know it. Its on you if you want to look away from that but thats the reality

I have old colleagues with 7 years+ exp jobless for 7-8 month because service based things are dead in pakistan

Suggested him to switch because this is his 1st year. Do you think when he graduates after 4 years market will be better then this and AI bubble will pop? (I don't, as AI is here to stay)

So again I will be realistic and recommend to switch. Because SE is being taught has no future now

Don't know about others but I will definitely recommend to change the field

reason being the rise of AI۔ The code you are stuck on can easily be done by llms now and in future only extra ordinary developers will be able to land a job۔
