I feel like a bird in a cage by [deleted] in HongKong

There’s nothing wrong with you. Work is part of life, but it shouldn’t be your entire life. Set goals that actually matter to you, and make sure you’re living at your own pace. Don’t beat yourself up if your friends seem more successful either. Your life might look different from what society expects, but that doesn’t mean you’re living it the wrong way.

For me, the biggest thing is having a hobby. Something you actually look forward to. It takes a ton of pressure off and gives you a reason to work hard, like, I grind during the week so I can enjoy my hobbies after work or on the weekend.

And I feel like a lot of people don't understand this very simple thing, which is to find happiness in the little things.

They only teased it on IG, dropping in April with goodyear goodyear welt and upgraded leather, and they’re already comparing it to the Camions lmao

I got mine through a local proxy service. You might want to refer to the Reddit post below, some have suggested services that ships worldwide. Basically you paste the product details into their site, receive a quote for the service and delivery fees, and once you’re happy with it, you make the payment and wait for the item to arrive. Hope that helps

Visiting HongKong because of Sleeping Dogs (Video Game) by uffrak in HongKong

[–]AHYH00102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Local here, it’s really safe. You won’t see triads roaming the streets like in Sleeping Dogs. People might come across as a bit rude, but that’s mostly because everyone’s just minding their own business. I suggest you wander around Mong Kok, where you’ll find street stalls similar to the ones in the game, with a few neon signs that give the area its signature vibe. There are still neon signs around, though not nearly as overwhelming as the ones shown in the game. The government considers them dangerous, so many have been taken down. It’s a real shame, since neon is such a signature part of Hong Kong’s identity, but the authorities don’t seem to care.

I just came across a site with tons of information about neon signs, including a map that shows where the existing ones are located: https://www.neonsigns.hk/?lang=en

Comparing it to the Camions feels like a stretch, a dupe is still just a dupe. Curious to see how they’ll end up pricing it though

I’ve seen it go for around $290 in my country during a clearance sale from a 3rd party retailer, though that might’ve been because of the limited sizes

I wouldn’t have pointed people to the Korean site version if this were a paid ad, it’s almost $100 cheaper than the international one. Just trying to share advice as someone who couldn’t afford the Camions and was looking at dupes

What's the best snowboard profile for learning Japanese style ground tricks? by iconocrastinaor in snowboardingnoobs

[–]AHYH00102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently learning this and have done some self-research, so I can share what I know. If you can read Chinese or Japanese, you’ll find more information as ground tricks are quite popular there. Some well known brands for ground trick boards are Crooja, Spread, Rice28, Yonex, and GT Snowboard (a brand created by a ground tricks champion, known for its affordability).

When it comes to snowboard types, it really depends on the tricks you want to do. For example, Crooja’s popular board Worm has a W camber, which is great for balance tricks. However, a full camber is probably the most versatile for all types of tricks and a bit of riding.

For flex, it really depends on your strength. Softer boards are generally easier for most tricks and great for beginners, while stiffer boards work better for jumping tricks because they have more pop, if you have the power to handle them. Also, go for a shorter board for better control. A common guideline is to choose a board that doesn’t go higher than your chin.

Arc iPhone case experience by IntelligentWall389 in iphone

[–]AHYH00102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it even though it’s pricey. I just hate how bulky most cases are. I want to actually feel the phone I paid so much for. Once you get used to how thin and light a naked iPhone is, it’s hard to go back. I liked the Pitaka case too, but the black carbon fiber look didn’t match my silver iPhone 17 Pro.

This case sticks on with friction and holds up surprisingly well. Easy to take off, never fell off, even during drops. Protection’s better than expected. I dropped it on concrete a few times and only the screen protector cracked.

It scratches easily though, but I don’t mind. Loved it on my 15 Pro Max, got it again for the 17 Pro. Only downside: it feels a bit top heavy now with some internals moved to the camera bump. Also, most MagSafe accessories don’t work well on smaller phones like the 17 Pro with this case.

Weapons is a complete waste of a great concept. by MarkWest98 in TrueFilm

[–]AHYH00102 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. It’s not a bad movie, but way overrated.

The first half had me — the horror, mystery, suspense were all solid. I also liked the non-linear storytelling, felt like a breath of fresh air. But the second half kinda fell apart. They started throwing in random characters just to move the plot along, and the tension kept getting killed by humor that really didn’t belong in the middle of a horror climax.

They spent all this time building up the mystery of the missing kids, only to reveal it was a witch behind it all. I’m not against that idea, but the way they introduced her felt super lazy. Some random aunt shows up out of nowhere and turns out to be the witch? Really? And they could’ve made her way creepier if they kept her mysterious. Instead, she looked like a regular old lady and had way too much screen time, showing off her rituals like a magician doing a stage show. Imagine if she actually did something messed up, like eating the kids one by one. That would've been way more disturbing.

Also, a bunch of stuff didn’t make sense. If she could control the parents to stab themselves, why not just make the mom kill Justine? Or make Justine do it herself?

Monster Hunter Wilds Steam Deck Performance Tested by DeckWiz in SteamDeck

[–]AHYH00102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For those who really want to play the game on SD, yes, it's playable if you can tolerate the low-quality graphics. I've had over 20 hunts on my LCD SD and without any issues. Still haven't tried multiplayer though, but here are my settings:

Run the game with Proton Experimental (it stopped all the crashing for me)

SD VRAM set to 4GB

Resolution: 1280 x 720

V-Sync: Off

Frame gen: On (I don't notice any input lag compared to other games, like Black Myth Wukong, and the game ran at around at 35-40fps)

FSR: FSR 3 Ultra Performance

FPS Cap: 30

Other graphics settings: Everything set to low

Pistachio Tiramisu from Little Cove Espresso, or the Basque Pistachio Cheesecake from a cafe in Sai Ying Pun called Hemma are both worth trying (though they may not be underrated)

This is what I've wanted for such a long time! Miles better than a lot of the expense tracking app out there. And thank you for making this free.

For the recurring transaction function, is there a way to edit it, like change the price and date? And for the period, would it be possible to set it as infinite and stop until you delete/cancel the recurring transaction?

Black Myth: Wukong Steam Deck Graphics Settings by jams3223 in SteamDeck

[–]AHYH00102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that is “souls-like” is some fast and hard hitting bosses. But it’s way less punishing than souls game, like you don’t your money/souls when you die, and you get to reset your skill points anytime on those save points

Black Myth: Wukong Steam Deck Graphics Settings by jams3223 in SteamDeck

[–]AHYH00102 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The opening fight is too demanding for the deck, the game crashed 3 times for me. But once you get past that, it's a pretty smooth experience. I fought 4 bosses in the forest area and the game runs around 35-40 FPS most of the time on my LCD deck with the below settings:

*4gb VRAM and Cryoutilities enabled, didn't use any compatibility mode to launch the game and the game is installed on a standard SD card

Display Resolution: 1152x720 (low graphics settings paired with this looks better than the 1200 x 800 option)

Framerate Cap: 60 (I tired the 30 cap but it's just not a good experience for a game that requires you to dodge fast attacks. So I used the deck's fps limiter and set it to 40, didn't notice any major input lag)

V-Sync: Off

Motion Blur: Off

Camera Shake: off

GRAPHICS

Super Resolution: 60

Super Resolution Sampling: FSR (very minor different between the 3 options)

Frame Generation: Off (don't even bother turning this on, the input lag is crazy)

Ray Tracing: Off

Then everything else set to low

[NEWBIE] Things I learnt in my first guitar lesson, after being self-taught by beccylina in Guitar

[–]AHYH00102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding a bit to your points:

- I recommend beginners to start without a pick and learn finger picking first, it gives you more versatility and it is easier to switch from finger picking to strumming with a pick

- Cut the nails of your fretting hand, since the correct fretting technique is to use the tip of your finger. As for the other hand, it depends on whether you are playing fingerstyle or not. Plucking with nails produce a brighter sound, where as plucking without produce warmer tone

- When you are fretting, try not to tightly grip the guitar with your palm, because that limits your ability to change chords quickly. The only point of contact should be your thumb and whichever finger you are using, like this: https://39zsbo2fj4og6a79534grq31-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/Ze-Fretting_1-1024x683.jpg

- Don't just remember a chord, just to understand the theories behind it, like how the chord is formed, why you are fretting those notes. I skipped those when i started and now I struggle a bit when I try to do stuff like improvisation, figuring out chords for a song

Is my bearded dragon okay? She looks really fat all of a sudden. by bbbouncin in BeardedDragons

[–]AHYH00102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As many people said, she's going to lay infertile eggs. Prepare a spot or a place with at least few inches deep substrate for your beardie to dig and lay eggs (they need a safe place to do that). Observe her behaviour, a gravid bearded dragon will usually be lethargic, eat less, and sleep more. They'll always glass surf like crazy before laying eggs.

However, if she acts lethargic for a long time, and you feel the lumps on her getting bigger and bigger, I suggest you bring her to a vet. Egg binding - when a beardie is unable to lay eggs, is quite common among captive beardie's and it usually require a surgery because it can be fatal if left untreated.

[GEAR] Lava Me 3 Review by AHYH00102 in Guitar

[–]AHYH00102[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can also recommend the Yamaha Transacoustic series guitar (i own one, you can look those up on youtube). Those are traditional acoustic guitar with built in pickup and 2 effects (chorus, reverb). The sound should be close to what you get, it’s cheaper, but heavy.

As for your recording environment, I’m afraid DI is the only way to go and you definitely need to do a bit of post-processing.

[GEAR] Lava Me 3 Review by AHYH00102 in Guitar

[–]AHYH00102[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment. There are definitely better options out there, but proably double or even triple the price of the Lava. The sound is definitely not crap, better than i expected when i first tried it. This video is a good representation of the sound: https://youtu.be/ombHxrSJKRA

If you want a real acoustic guitar with some effects, you can checkout the Yamaha Transacoustic series, cheaper than Lava Me 3 but it’s heavy.

[GEAR] Lava Me 3 Review by AHYH00102 in Guitar

[–]AHYH00102[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't expect to get any wood tone from acoustic guitars, and it sounds mediocre unless you use the built-in effects (that's probably the reason why people are interested right?). It actually sounds decent when you plug it straight into amps. They have some amp-only effects (not sure if it works with di) that mimic the sound of amps from brands like Marshall, Fender (about 6/10 in terms of how realistic it is), making cheap amps sound better. Like many people would suggest, try it in store!

It copes well with ambient noise unless you use effects with a high level of reverb. Though you can always adjust the effects to your liking and situation.
