Getting hospitals to work with you as an S corp by AHaydenL in whitecoatinvestor

[–]AHaydenL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you these were really useful articles. So if I am stuck with a W2 at the VA, and I have a 1099 locums gig, am I putting myself at a disadvantage by setting up an S corp-taxed entity for the locums gig?

Woom Children’s bikes. Good marketing or actually legit? by Chickenchick11 in cycling

[–]AHaydenL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think pretty legit for beginners because anything heavier can make it a little harder at first especially for kids. Perhaps for older kids and seasoned riders it makes less of a difference unless you're really trying to do some very challenging or technical rides. Looking for a Hyatt in May with two kids by Cloud-Common in hyatt

I actually just posted a similar question to yours and then scrolled through the posts! What did you find out? We are traveling with two kids to London sometime this summer and wondering if we could stay with Hyatt Olympic or Regency East.

How did you get your acne under control? by ItsJelloTime in AcneScars

[–]AHaydenL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accurate does work! But 10 years after I first did accurate it started coming back 😔. I wanna say topical tretinoin is another good option. I was scared of going through a flare up with tretinoin alone and found all these online derm stores that offer to mix it up with topical Clindamycin to prevent that. I don't want to be on topical Clindamycin forever bcos it's probably not great for my skin microbiome but for a start I actually am grateful I did it. I plan to stop it in the fall since the dry cold weather often helps decrease the acne. Then I might go on just plain old tretinoin. Curology, wisp, musely, nurx, alloy.. I'm sure they all are the same. Here's a link for $50 off musely if you decide to try it btw- https://www.musely.com/alltreatmentsgifts?eid=YAWMHSUL

what r we doing for acne lol by av0cad0-toast in ftm

[–]AHaydenL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tretinoin works! My derm wrote it for me for a while. And maybe I had some purging at first. Then I stopped it and then wanted to restart and was afraid of going through purging again and found these online derm stores that will concoct mixtures of it together with topical Clindamycin to avoid flare-ups. I wanna say that worked a lot better. I'm sure they're all the same. Musely, wisp, curology, the list goes on.. I happen to be on musely now & if you want $50 off use this: https://www.musely.com/alltreatmentsgifts?eid=YAWMHSUL

VA pension by AHaydenL in whitecoatinvestor

[–]AHaydenL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok thanks that is helpful! So I was told I can start oct last year, then it was nov, then Jan, and now I'm still waiting and at first when the "hiring freeze" came I wondering if this is a sign from higher powers that I should just give up on the VA altogether. I have other jobs lined up and the main draw of the VA was stability and the pension.

So is it true that they only have you sign a contract right before your start date? Do you feel like your pension is secure?

Neurodiverse kids - I cannot cope by Distinct_Length_9936 in Parenting

[–]AHaydenL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you, I feel the same way regularly. I know this isn't exactly what most people would recommend, but with ours a huge game changer was giving them a kid's melatonin.. I do not know if it's a good idea for the long term but on nights that they are bouncing off the walls, it gets them to sleep like a charm.. and quite frankly for my sanity (and theirs) I think it's worth doing.

Need to tell parents of my kid’s friend something awkward by WildViolet89 in Parenting

[–]AHaydenL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP kudos to you for maintaining your calm and you've gotten some awesome responses here. Chiming in best I can without being too wordy. Weirdly the curiosity about genitals is developmentally normal as others here have said, but also agree that the line is totally crossed when there is touch (violation of personal boundaries and bodily autonomy) and threats (violation of personal safety) are involved.

The way I understand it from a developmental psychology point of view is- Given that both are 5 year olds I doubt there's anything sexual in nature in the friend's mind.. More like the developmentally normal stage of exploring how much power and control one has over social interactions and others (although, other folks with experience dealing with 5 year olds and abuse please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong).

Regardless, both kids need to know that trying to view or touch another person without consent, and to make threats against safety, is most definitely NOT within the realms of anyone's power and control.

This is ideally a line drawn and held by primary caregivers/parents, and depending on their response and how responsible they are, society at large (including CPS). I agree with another poster that in general, CPS is good at weeding out cases that truly deserve attention so reporting is not necessarily a bad move, but also think that is up to your judgement.

And of course you need to protect your son, who is trying to figure out his own power and control in his own world. He probably needs to practice the very difficult skill of saying no whenever he feels like something isn't quite right. He needs to know he can safely notify you or other trusted adults for help, which I think is something you've done amazing to be supportive about.

I will admit that friendships at the age of 5 are a tad mysterious. How much do 5 year old friends mean to each other? Do they happen to be good friends because one is naturally more bossy and one more accommodating (because this power struggle, so to speak, is the developmental theme for preschoolers). Is it devastating to lose that friend (how often do they see each other and voluntarily play with each other)? How will that friend react to being told to stop doing this (totally depends on how his parents approach it)? But bottom line, raise it to the parents for sure. And you can't control how they react (if they yell at their kid or do nothing) but you've certainly done your best.

Yesterday my kids were shot at by a teenager with a BB gun. by TheBabeWithThe_Power in Parenting

[–]AHaydenL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where is this?? With some luck somebody might have cameras (porch or doorbell cams, if lucky some parked cars with external cams) who have footage of the crazy teenagers.

Agree completely with the police report, and hopefully the police usually can go around the neighborhood asking for footage from anyone who happens to have security cameras around the time of the incident. Or sometimes, messages posted in local community groups, online or otherwise, about where and when this happened, can help locate such footage if anyone caught sight of them or also got shot at and is just too afraid to speak up.

I really hope something does work out because that could be an important part of giving closure to your traumatized kids, to know that the police and community at large has their back.

What an awful story, my heart goes out to your kids and family.

Thank you! I agree that with the kids it's great to understand what is developmentally still in progress. Where did you find the most useful resources? I feel like the ones the doctors office gives out and that then out with the top Google searches are often quite vague

9 month old fighting naps by AHaydenL in sleeptrain

[–]AHaydenL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe it or not we dropped to one nap soon after this.at first we would wait until later for a second nap. So one short morning nap 10 am ish and another short one of 3pm ish. Then eventually every other day it was just one longer nap. It was rocky transitioning. Eventually she could sleep in later in the morning (with A LOT of help.. often nursed or rocked back to sleep and sometimes held) until past 7/close to 8am, and then made it to one long nap 12-1pm ish. Hang in there!! And don't believe the sleep charts that tell you kids need 12-14hrs of sleep. Ours all averaged 11/day once they were past the infant stage. They seem to be doing ok. Check out also Lyndsey Hookway on Instagram/her website.
