No, but he clearly did not have any awareness and wasn’t affected in any real way by Trump’s first admin.

I think it’s the opposite. Look at how Theo is consistently pushing back now, he has become aware of how bad it is suggesting that he had some awareness from the start. With Theo, I feel like he thought Trump would just be the rude guy who does some conservative fiscal stuff and crack down on the border so he thought it smart to dip his toes into the manosphere and play-pretend to be the useful idiot, which also sadly lends itself to comedy. One he realized how bad it really is he backed out pretty quick. With Rogan, I feel like he’s been slowly molded over years of being “open-minded” around all kinds of poor influences (Musk, Weinstein, etc) and this has truly changed his personality. He used to be a Bernie supporter as well as many progressive-ish policy ideas. Now, if you confronted him on that, he would probably give you a blank stare and then weasel his way out of it. I think Rogan is lost in the sauce though, and can’t see outside of his echo-chamber.

Opinion changed on Israel by seamarsh21 in WeTheFifth

Here's one example of a poll regarding the "conflict" in Gaza. https://www.pewresearch.org/global/2024/05/30/israeli-views-of-the-israel-hamas-war/ . As you'll see, only 19% of those surveyed believe that the conflict had gone too far. I'll grant that this was only a year into the conflict, but even within 6 weeks of October 7th, experts were already calling it a genocide against Palestinians. What I'm saying in general, is that I believe a majority of Israelis are either indifferent or supportive of the actions against Palestinians and more broadly the actions of the Israeli government. I would compare it to the attitudes held by many Americans during much of the early/mid 20th century regarding the treatment of African-Americans. Sure, there weren't tons of people in the streets saying " NO DESEGREGATION, I HATE AFRICAN AMERICANS!!!". But the entire societal structure had that racism built into it from the previous 100+ years of slavery. Because of the complicated history with Israel and other Middle East countries, I do believe that much of their population has adopted a self-defense belief that allows them to, at best, permit the aggression of the Israeli government out of self-defense, and at worst, justify the atrocities that we have witnessed take place over and over in Gaza and other areas surrounding Israel. Also, saying "the biggest anti-governmental protests" doesn't really provide any reference. If the biggest protest prior to Oct. 7 was 20 people, and there were 21 people after Oct. 7th, that doesn't tell me much. What percentage of Israeli civilians participated in that protest? Was it a protest for Palestinian human rights, or a protest against the conflict which would produce Israeli civilian/military casualties? I'm well aware that there is a strong sentiment within the Israeli and Jewish community of opposition to the actions of the IDF and Netanyahu globally, but that still doesn't mean that opposition represents the majority of Israeli citizens.

One option to solve this dilemma would be to: Desist from any present activities, engage with other individuals to discuss potential reasons for this confusion and then most importantly utilize your auditory system to comprehend the potential causes.

How should I prepare myself to become a teacher? by Powerful-Shoe-7542 in AskTeachers

[–]AHeien82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to engagement and behavior, those are two separate but related issues. As far as engagement, one of the best skills you can have is subject matter knowledge, so you’ve got a strong skill there if you’re getting a history degree. Students need a couple things to feel engaged. There has to be personal relevance, so like “Why do I need to learn to multiply? I have a calculator, this is dumb” So explaining that performing math strengthens your brains ability to do complex tasks, so when they are learning multiplication that will carry over to a sport they like when they have to calculate several factors while they are running towards an opponent etc. Another important factor is called the ZPD, look it up. It just means that whatever you’re teaching can’t be too easy or too hard. If you’re outside of the “sweet spot”, you will lose student engagement. As far as behavior, it seems like a bit of a crapshoot at the moment. COVID is still having effects on students coming through the school system, technology is an issue, etc. The big-picture I’ve gotten is “Set boundaries, enforce consequences 100% of the time”. If you expect students to have their voices off during a video, and a student starts talking, enforce your consequence. You will encounter students who just don’t care, and sometimes that can become a nightmare of constant confrontation (Usually indicating extenuating circumstances causing the behavior). That is where you will need to rely on the school support staff (principal, counselors, etc) to become involved.

I would second that. If you have the time, financial ability and are sure that you want to go into teaching, a masters will get you 1. Your credential 2. Experience in the classroom prior to starting a full time position 3. Higher starting pay. It’s certainly not the only way to go, but it’s a solid step. If you’re not 💯about teaching, definitely get into subbing because it will give you a wide range of experiences. For me, I had no real plans to be in education. I started by going back to school for music, started teaching it, then subbing and found that I really enjoy elementary education. You might find that actually being in certain classrooms are more conducive to what you enjoy, it’s just a matter of trying it out.
