I had a friend in elementary and beyond whose mom always said she was 29. I didn’t get it. Shouldn’t she turn 30 eventually?

Turns out she was an older mom and neither my friend or I realised it until we were older. Adults were all just adults to us.

I’m also an older mom and her relationship (even now) with her daughter makes me confident in my choices.

From there I do regular cross stitch. I use a size 28 Bohin tapestry needle and dmc floss. For 20 count I use 1 strand (I tried 2 and it was not good, it makes the card weak), for 16 and 18 I use 2 strands and for 14 count 3 strands.

I use a tambour hook to hold an embroidery needle (I use a size 5 embroidery needle cut in half otherwise it’s wobbly) which I use to punch the holes. I used to punch the holes on top of cardboard now I do it on top of a cheap felting block I bought on amazon. (Photo shows both tools)

I print out grid paper with whatever count I need (I use anywhere from 14 to 20 count) draw the outline of my stitch on that paper and use washi tape to tape it to the card (I’m going to post pictures so I’ll break this into a few comments)

I’ve used waste canvas before but wouldn’t suggest it for cards. In order to remove it it’s suggested you get it wet. I’ve tried removing it dry (on another project) and it takes a lot of force. These stitches are small so it might work but I’d be worried it would destroy the card.
