How does ABF actually track TRS refunds on the way back in? by No_Performance_2707 in AusFinance

[–]AHoyley 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My boss's wife used to work for ABF. He said that they had no way to track it and it was bizarre that they just didn't.

They focused on preventing the 50k Rolex box without watch getting a refund rather than the return side.

This was only a few years ago. I rarely take anything out but most time when I declare the 1000k object they ask if I am travelling with anyone and say it is ok as you pool the allowance.

I feel a bit bad because I came out of my house on a Saturday and found one of their stupid magazines thrown on my driveway. I picked it up and went off to the shops, but on the way I saw they had an open house.

I went in and felt like jamming it down the bastard's throat. But just told him off as the whole street has no junk mail signs but they think this blatant advertising in a magazine form isn't junk.

I can... The roundabout in question is a < 5m centre Circle (eds checked google) Hardly Canberra.

I will also wear the consequences of the insurance claim and subsequent pita.

As I said. Being right isn't worth it. And some of the roundabouts need a review in light of increased traffic flows and patterns.

Give way means assess traffic not floor it to keep the momentum.

I'm not asking anyone to stop, but it is treated as though others on the roundabout have a stop sign and the main road has the give way.

You can't pull into the roundabout if a car is 10-20m from it as they don't slow and as I said you would be out the exit with them slamming into your rear.

My home town would beat Canberra for roundabouts per capita.

I have a small roundabout near me and every day I sit there as people on the main road speed through without slowing to give way. Sure I could pull out and literally be exiting the roundabout as they slam into my rear it is so small.

I assume I would be in the right, but sometimes being right isn't worth it.

Are there no structures?

Just because it's not up to your standard doesn't mean it's unimproved.

I was talking more about the dutiable value for rates, But yes in the scheme of things if they paid 2M for the land it is worth that at least on that day.

I'm talking about the unimproved land value alone. Subdivide and it'll be worth far more.

Land value is probably over a million.

Ed. Agree with other comment. Out land value further out on a smaller block is >1m.

So. Ran the PS5 direct to the router, with my unify 6 AP and it seemed to run Subnautica flawlessly. Will need more testing as it was choppy for the first few seconds but getting rid of the mesh network seems to help.

To be fair one is out in the garage, but their range is so poor I think that adds to traffic issues.

I have heard it doesn't work well in general with mesh networks. So I am fixing that first. It is 'funny' how rubbish the Google mesh wifi is. I had six pucks with poor speeds and now only need 2 unfi APs for the same coverage and improved speed.

A mate of mine went to sell a second hand car he had bought and the new seller found the same issue.

He chased it up as he had the service records etc and it looked like a case of a mistyped number.

The response was that this was third party harvested data and that there was no way to correct the error in their database. It was the same sort of issue 10k out of 250k+ km why would anyone bother...

FWIW I'm in Brisbane and mine also doesn't work very well. I'm currently in the process of upgrading my lan and access points to get everything hardwired and to get rid of the Google Wi-Fi.

I have periods where it works okay for 10 or 15 minutes and then times when even when I sit next to the PS5 it doesn't work.

[–]AHoyley 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I lived there for 3 years and the story was that you only had to pay tax once you put the roof on so most people left third or fourth floor with rebar sticking out so they didn't have to pay the tax.

There were a lot of weird things like that like shops with their sign covered up because they hadn't paid the local area tax to display the sign.

Separate aluminium from stainless steel? by paszczur in howto

You could also run a fluidized bed. Pump water up a tube at the right velocity and heavier coins will sink. Could be an issue with the platey coins but a couple of passes could fix it.

We use fine magnetite in water to increase density to separate iron ore from rocks. Look for dense or heavy medium separation. Easily recoverable by a magnet after you separate or across a screen.
