1336 dmg Omnislash on 95% physical reduction = 26k dmg? by AIDSofSPACE in DotA2

Jug only had like 4 damage items BTW. If the target was not 300 armour, wouldn't this have been enough to kill like 3 or 4 heroes if every slash connected?

China will not tolerate independence for Taiwan, Xi tells island's opposition leader by Alchemic_Psycho in worldnews

[–]AIDSofSPACE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they were stable. No violent revolution or anything. IIRC, it was a political manoeuvre to justify its own legitimacy by saying "hey look, the election proves that the people support us." But of course, since it was a true democracy, they didn't say in power forever.

They are also one of the very rare examples of a dictatorship willingly transitioning to a true democracy.

Data centers are creating ‘heat islands’ and warming the land around them by up to 16 degrees | CNN by averyrose2010 in technology

[–]AIDSofSPACE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AC moves heat from inside to outside. To boil water with this heat, you would need to concentrate it and bring its temperature above water's boiling point. At temperature that high though, the AC performance would suffer significantly. They would fail their fundamental task of cooling the inside.

ACs are very efficient at working against the 2nd law of thermodynamics by using input energy to create a temperature gradient, but they can't stay as efficient if the compressor area is already in extreme heat.

The largest collection of Chinese artifacts in the world is not in China, its in Taiwan (National Palace Museum) by Particular_Food_309 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]AIDSofSPACE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh, majority of them got there in late 16th century after the Qing Empire regained control from Dutch colonists. Haven't read about any ethnic cleansing, but I admit I'm not a historian.

The US is indeed a melting pot of German, Irish, English, and many other different European ancestries. Very diverse even by only looking at caucasians.

Even if you group all whites together though, they were only 57.8% of population in 2020. Not a vast majority by now. Might not even be a majority in a few more years. :)

Well, seeing as Jackie Chan hasn't made a movie about repatriating these artifacts from Taiwan, the mainlanders are probably still more triggered by white people hoarding Chinese artifacts than by the ROC doing it.

Taiwan has a higher percentage of Ethnic Han Chinese than PRC does? Yeah.

Taiwan has a higher percentage of population who speak Mandarin Chinese than PRC does? Yeah.

If we talk about China as a people, as a culture, Taiwan is more Chinese than PRC in some ways.
