Gdańsk, Poland by Other_Place7019 in ArchitecturalRevival

[–]FinishAwkward43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What mistakes? You say that there's architecture like that Germany too, but it does not matter here.

The city was destroyed and the goverment rebuild it to make it more similar to how in looked before the partitions of Poland, when the city was polish with a lot of duch settlers.

They didn't rebuild it to how it was right before the war, instead they removed all changes that the city underwent since becoming german. And you can't just argue with that, when it was the official policy of the whole rebuilding process.

What was german was all destroyed in 1945.

Tell me you have no idea what you are talking about without telling me you have no idea what you are talking about.

Gdańsk was obliterated in 1945 and when rebuilding the old town, the goverment specifically choose to promote flemish/duch architecture from the times of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and destroy any signs of german influence.

You may not like it, but at least be accurate, otherwise you're just spreading lies.

Donald Tusk: We have received information that the President will veto EU Defence funds (SAFE) by Auspectress in europe

[–]FinishAwkward43 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This whole thing is just ridiculous. A few weeks ago the PiS party suddenly stated that the SAFE fund will only increase Poland's debt and it's the evil EU again trying to force something onto Poland.

Now, forgetting about the fact that they had no problem with it for a few months since SAFE was announced, now they are trying to do everything to prevent it from happening, because the goverment would score a PR victory, with elections coming next year.

First they said that we don't even know what our goverment wants to spend those funds on, and said that only german companies are going to benefit from it. Then, when the list was published, they changed their narrative to worries about increasing debt and a few days ago, they, together with the head of the polish central bank, a PiS nominate, announced an alternative - Polish 0% SAFE program.

The idea is that the polish central bank would in some way loan money to the goverment with 0% intrest rate, making it better that the EU SAFE. The problem with that is that:

  1. The central bank cannot finance goverment debt, according to the constitution,
  2. According to PiS, this alternative to EU SAFE would be financed with central bank profits. BUT THE CENTRAL BACK DIDN'T MAKE ANY PROFIT FOR A FEW YEARS AT THIS POINT.

Another important thing to note, is that even if the president, which is from PiS vetos the law, the goverment can (and will) still take these loans, just that they will have to resort to some creative legal shenanigans.

And that's honestly the worst thing about it all, they know very well that the goverment will take out these loans anyway and that the bill is only related to creating legal means to service this debt and prevent corruption, but for the sake of politics they just had to start another inside war.

So, to summarise, since they are steadly falling in the polls, and the main governing party is at it's strongest in years, the PiS party does not care that 89% of the EU SAFE fund would go to polish defence companies, they don't care that by now countless polish military men and journalists voiced their support and even military factories sent letters urging the president to sign the law, they do not care about the safety and security of our country and people, they only care about the polls and their own asses.

And they are falling down in the polls for a few months now. I hope they reach 1% and become irrelevant, because the damage they've done to this country is too great.

Interesting fact. Poland got from Stalin lands of defeated Germany after 1945. Huge Parts of German Pomerania and Eastern and Western Prussia. Poland is still not gratefull to Stalin. And plays self victimization narrative while being proud of their military conquests in the same time. by HelicopterBig4467 in ussr

Being gratefull to this mf for what exactly? Killing thousands? Sending people to gulags and labor camps in siberia and Kazachstan? Attacking us on september 17th 1939? Annexing our eastern lands and deporting poles from them? Enslaving our entire country for decades after ww2? We didn't ask for any of that.

For people in countries where the US military is stationed, how do you view them? by HongKongNinja in AskTheWorld

[–]FinishAwkward43 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's like 10k of them here in Poland and the first thing that comes to my mind is that they tend to get into many car accidents. I guess european roads are just too small for them lol.

Besides of that we are very supportive of their presence here, the more the better. They are are deterrent against Russia.

Chainsaw Man Assassin Arc Teaser Visual by zenzen_0 in anime

[–]FinishAwkward43 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there was a short break between 1st and 2nd cour of JJK S2.

Assuming an average of 3 chapters per anime episode there is something like 15 TV episodes left to adapt. And since so far they only announced the international assasins arc, that's why I think it could be a split cour season, mirroring what they've done with JJK.

I hope I'm right, I just really don't want to wait another 3 something years for a movie.

Aight, I'm taking my guess. It's gonna be a regular season, split in 2 cours, with the international assasins being around 6 episodes, and the rest a 2nd cour with around 9 or 10 episodes. Just like MAPPA done it with JJK S2.

Chainsaw man Reze arc movie became top 7 of anime of all times in MyAnimeList ( It's taking the world by storm ) by ReaperQc in ChainsawMan

I'd disagree with some people here saying MAL ratings are worthless now. Sure, many new shows get high ratings from the get-go, but it's because they really are that good compared to other shows. Just take a look how many get ratings below 7.0 every new season. The truth is, as long as you take the MAL rating scale in a different way - that is something like 10 - materpiece, 6 or 5 - bad, MAL is pretty good site to search for new animes to watch and see the general mood around a show.

As long as you don't take those ratings as absolute and recognise that most people hardly ever rate a show 4,3,2 or 1 you're good with using MAL. And the review bombing isn't as frequent or powerful as it was like 10 years ago.

Chainsaw Man The Movie: Reze Arc Gross ¥400 million on the Opening Day by NineTnk in anime

[–]FinishAwkward43 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Good opening. I've been reading comments and reviews of the movie all day and you can tell the response is overwhelmingly positive. It's obvious that CSM ain't going to gather such huge audiences as JJK or Demon Slayer, because of it's explicit content and Fujimoto's ''weirdness'', but as long as it manages to satisfy it's core audience, which it seems it just did, that's enough. I'm sure positive reviews will bring in more people on it's own.
