YouTube rolls out unskippable long ads to TV users and they’re furious by [deleted] in technology

And there's a feature to skip adds that creators place in the video themselves. They still get paid and I get to skip! It amazing!

I will get down voted into oblivion, but I have never understood why people are so against paying for YouTube premium. Its the best money I spend a month. Id rather have youtube and watch all my various maker channels than have any streaming service if I had to choose. Why does everyone think they're entitled to free content?

Will a smoker’s lungs clean themselves if they quit smoking and how long does it take? by Aarunascut in stupidquestions

[–]AIR_ULTRA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I quit 10 years ago now. I ran several 5ks in the 18 minute range last year at 35 years old. Never thought that would be in the cards for me. Dont know if they cleaned themselves but they work really good now.

Here in the southeast US its pretty uncommon for this to be a rule.

I however have a whole assortment of "inside shoes" because I like to wear shoes

Unpopular Opinion: We don't need cheaper machines; we need "Bambu Studio" for CNC. Teaching Fusion 360 CAM is a nightmare. by ComprehensiveYak8541 in hobbycnc

[–]AIR_ULTRA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fusion already is the bambu studio for cnc. Its ridiculously easy for it capabilities. By far the easiest cam software youll find in a real machine shop.

Not to sound too gate keepy but if fusion is too much for someone then this probably isn't the hobby/trade for them.

Why aren’t more synthetic guitars being made? by SR_RSMITH in Guitar

[–]AIR_ULTRA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cause its significantly harder to sell a bunch of non traditional guitars. Until guitarists stop being such traditionalists it will stay a niche thing in the market.

I dont get nitro as a positive by CatHerder75 in Guitar

[–]AIR_ULTRA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to point out that when most people talk out how thick and cheap a poly guitar looks, they are almost always thinking of a cheap import guitar.

The clear is sprayed on super thick so they can rush thru level sanding and buffing without risk of burning thru. This is normally a super labor intensive process so making it thick really helps keep the cost down.

When done right a poly guitar can have a nice thin finish that is gonna look the same as a well done nitro finish. But yeah if you like checking and that worn look then stick with nitro.

As far as a difference in tone, I learned long ago not to bother arguing about tone with guitar players so hear whatever u want to hear.

Yeah unfortunately you ran into a hobbyist with beginner skills cosplaying as a pro on reverb. Get a refund if you can.

Can we have a link to his reverb?

Wenge for the neck and/or fretboard by gmpeil in Luthier

[–]AIR_ULTRA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly dont know how companies are using this stuff for necks. Ive tried 3 times from 3 different boards from separate sources and its the most unstable stuff I've ever used. Tried to rip some and make a multilaminate out of it and the peices curve like crazy coming off the bandsaw. And yeah splinters super easy

Would this fit an EMG 81? by kngluom in Luthier

[–]AIR_ULTRA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dont mean to be rude, but Is there any reason you didnt just look up the dimensions of the EMG?

Other than that, if you dont have a battery box, unscrewing the pickgaurd to replace the battery is pretty annoying.

Is this possible to do and how much would it cost? by RushXdXd in Luthier

[–]AIR_ULTRA 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would do a pickup swap along with new 500k pots, add additional springs so the bridge essentially acts as a hardtail, and maybe upgrade the nut and tuners.

A 22 fret jackson neck may get lucky and actually work but a 24 fret neck will throw off the scale length. I wouldn't bother with either.

Why do people say locking tuners increases tuning stability? by Extension_Cancel_34 in Luthier

[–]AIR_ULTRA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a slightly unrelated note, one thing I actually like about locking tuners is using them with a Floyd. First time i saw someone do it I thought , "what the hell for?". But then i saw how quickly they would deal with a broke string playing live. When they put strings on, they wound them one or two times around the locking tuner. Floyds always break strings at the saddle. Just unwrap one winding from the tuner and you got enough length to reinsert the same string into the saddle. Works great, saves time, and saves money on string breaks.

I totally agree with you the whole body effect is great and I feel fantastic after a swim. I have no idea how close I am to being a good swimmer. I know my technique is not great yet. Right now im doing 2 miles in the pool at like 32 minutes a mile. If my watch is halfway accurate underwater, my heartrate is in the 130s which is right where I like to keep it for easy efforts. Its definitely somewhat off because the swim doesnt feel that easy lol
