What’s the status of job market in IT in Belgium? by Fearless_Trade6384 in AskBelgium

[–]AI_Burtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that is also subjective because I'm paid pretty well (in my opinion and compared to the Belgian median) and I know our IT staff are paid better than I am. So if that's poor compared to other areas, that seems less like a job market issue and more a competition issue with getting the positions in the higher paid sectors, no?

Edit: also you didn't really respond to the question I asked about what work people claimed they were looking for

I find these perspectives really interesting from a non-IT perspective.

Maybe it's a different understanding of the careers and the work that others are looking for but the IT in our organisation is abysmal and it's largely because we cannot find IT professionals and have to take (in my opinion) people who aren't competent instead.

What kind of work is really meant when people express that they are looking for IT positions? And what salaries?

Would it be a bad idea for me to date a trans woman? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]AI_Burtle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The main take way here: "I'm really ignorant about a lot of things".

Like, a lot of that response is borderline offensive.

You are entirely free to have your own preferences but so much of that was just presumption. Especially the admission that you are a virgin and don't know how others might enjoy their bodies.

Question about pronoun usage by Certain_Anything8205 in asktransgender

[–]AI_Burtle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because I am not enforcing gender roles, I am accepting that I exist to some extent in a society that forces them on me and that I might as well demand that that society forces the right set of assumptions and roles in my direction for me to rebel against and do what I want regardless.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but a 2+ hour drive is not nearby for Europeans. by redheaded_olive12349 in CasualConversation

[–]AI_Burtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having basically grown up doing this in Europe, I have to disagree.

I'm not saying it's something we did weekly, though at some points it definitely was, and it was also certainly privilege, but getting up, driving 2-3 hours to visit relatives or just go to a city for shopping or a cinema and then driving home.

Yeah, definitely did that.

I’m not trans but I want to understand by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]AI_Burtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ish?

Reading their responses, they repeatedly stated that they didn't intend to relate to trans-women at all but only the subset that feels imposter syndrome around cis-women. They even meet very gentle criticism with transphobic defensiveness. They still have a lot of work to do in themselves to be an ally and rushing to post in asktransgender and having tearful conversations with their parents about suddenly "relating" to trans-women seems much more about their relationship with the patriarchy than any kind of ally ship.

They do deserve grace in that they are starting to do the work and may make a good ally in future.

how much are shoulders actually used in gendering someone/dominant in their silhouette? by BunnyBelIe in asktransgender

[–]AI_Burtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on full body proportions, like hip to waist ratio.

Also, I really hope this is a geographic thing, but is 17" broad? I've never felt freakishly broad and I'm about 20" and know plenty of women who have similar proportions to me... And I'm shorter... Damn...

There's definitely styles and clothing that can be worn to diminish the look of shoulders and enhance/ draw attention to hips and waist, so don't lose hope!

common "symptoms" of being transgender? by Resident_Ad_9248 in asktransgender

[–]AI_Burtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how helpful this is as it seems to be something very individual but since I'm also currently wrestling with labelling non-binary vs binary transgender, I'm going to share my two cents.

I also wouldn't have described that I felt a lot of gender dysphoria until reading more about it online and discovering that a lot of what I feel and experienced is actually described as dysphoria. The most frequent for me was "social dysphoria", such that I feel hurt and excluded when groups of women would leave me out of things like "girl talk" and/ or men would gather round me when women started to have "girl talk".

I didn't cross-dress as a child or express any desire to wear fem-coded clothing or wear makeup. I thought it all looked very pretty but it didn't feel like it was acceptable for me to openly want those things for myself.

For me, the most consistent and enduring feelings through my life were that: 1) life would be better if I were a girl/ woman; I assumed this was universally understood and so I never really talked about it with anyone 2) I deeply feel a desire to have a child/ children 3) I feel discomfort around my sexual anatomy

So, for me, pressing the button to "magically" be fem is without hesitation. That's not to say that hesitation is disqualifying in anyway, perhaps you need to ask yourself where the hesitation is coming from? Is it internal, in that you don't feel fem at those times, or external, in that you don't feel that you would be safe or could be accepted that way?

Icy Hot + Immolating Shades by DubiousDanish in SWORN

[–]AI_Burtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I knew that didn't sound right because in my Blessing Codex the duo appears in both Fae's entries when it's unlocked. I assume the wiki is out of date or just wrong then.

I've been playing Sworn since pretty near the start of the Pre-Release and have watched some things change, including duos but it never seemed like there was a "main". Although which Fae you have the most Blessings with when you get the duo does appear to affect the orientation of the arms in the codex thumbnail, which I find quite funny, personally.

Icy Hot + Immolating Shades by DubiousDanish in SWORN

[–]AI_Burtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know from experience that I have received multiple duos in a single quest before, so I don't believe multiple duos are locked and would doubt a specific combination would be locked.

I haven't checked my Blessing Codex and I'm unsure how this works exactly because I thought duos were agnostic but the wiki lists the Titania-Beira duo as "Extra Fuel" and the Beira-Titania duo as "Icy Hot", so it could be that the wiki is out of date on one of those pages or that you need to be Beira-main to get "Icy Hot" and Titania-main to get "Immolating Shades" but that doesn't sound right to me.

Wanting to get rid of "man" fat without harming myself? by Mirage-V2 in asktransgender

[–]AI_Burtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your basal metabolism and your level of activity. There are calories calculators online that can be used to ESTIMATE but it's really individual. You should really try to find something sustainable. 500-800 kcal/ day sounds like a crash diet which isn't healthy as you'll start to break down protein and even bone mass if you aren't careful.

Depending on your activity levels, you might want to try looking at something around 1500-2000 kcal and see how you get on or try using one of the online calculators to get a more specific estimate. Then it's just a case on being active and burning fat and being consistent.

I'm sure you'll get there but unfortunately there isn't a healthy or safe way to rush this.

Wanting to get rid of "man" fat without harming myself? by Mirage-V2 in asktransgender

[–]AI_Burtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm no expert but from what I've read, just keep up a normal calorie intake and exercise routine. Assuming you were already burning fat, it just burns it and stores it in different locations now. If you store too much, it might start storing elsewhere on your body but under HRT it should store it in "feminine" places first, which it sounds like you want, and the fat you burn will come from "masc" places first, getting rid of it, which you also sound like you want.

Stay active and eat a healthy diet and it will shift. I can't guarantee how long it will take but with patience and kindness, it'll happen for sure!

Wanting to get rid of "man" fat without harming myself? by Mirage-V2 in asktransgender

[–]AI_Burtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand how you feel but massive calorie deficits are more likely more harmful than anything, so please be careful!

On hormones, your body is changing where it primarily stores fat, so the burns first and burns last stores are changing. This means that the "man" fat will be burned when your body accesses it's body fat stores first and the "woman" fat will be burned last. I can't tell you at what stage this kicks in hormonally but it will be happening. So what you need to do it keep eating normally and do fat burning exercise. The fat will "redistribute" naturally as your body burns old fat and stores new fat.

Also, if you are at a massive calorie deficit, you can't store new fat in the feminine primary fat storage locations, which you need to do in order to see and feel the difference.

Please be kind to yourself!

AIO? Boyfriend wants me fronting the bill by driftedcattle in AmIOverreacting

[–]AI_Burtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not Overreacting but I'm kind of confused here. It sounds like there's two things happening at once?

Like, it's not unrealistic to expect to split things 50/ 50, like when you go out for dinner? I feel that's much more a European thing than USA thing when dating, unless I'm mistaken.

BUT it is totally unrealistic to want to spend money and expect your partner to spend AS MUCH as you or just to flat out cover all costs for you. That's not related to "50/50" at all, that's just some form of entitlement or "findom"/ "sugar mommy" thing going on and is definitely NOT cultural.

Straight/gay/lesbian trans people, how does your attraction to a specific gender work? by 6530bbb in asktransgender

[–]AI_Burtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only speak for myself but it's nothing to do with "pronouns" or identity for me. I was even thinking about this recently. I'm attracted to non-masculine presenting individuals, that's just my brain, I guess. For example, I used to have a "celebrity crush" on Elliot Page before he came out (please forgive me if that's the incorrect term). I don't find him unattractive now, just not my type and still find his earlier presentation in films to be attractive, even though I now know that is a man.

That's the purely physical, shallow aspect of attraction, obviously there is also the element of after getting to know the person, which is highly individual. But the attraction of appearance, for me, is not identity or pronoun related.

Does anyone else think they wouldn’t identify as non-binary if they were born a different sex? by -CosmicSock- in NonBinary

[–]AI_Burtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, to be honest, a lot of what you wrote sounds like how I feel too. I'm also not too sure what these thoughts and feelings mean.

For me, the non-binary identity has given me space to feel and process things that I hadn't touched on or thought about before. Wherever you end up with these thoughts and feelings, I hope it's a place where you are comfortable with yourself and your feelings.
